Moving viewing cards between boxes

Hi, hope someone can help!
I have just moved house and got a new sky subscription all set up.
I previously had multiroom at my parents which has just been cancelled. I assumed that the cancellation would stop me recording/watching anything else, but that I could still watch the old stuff recorded on the box. Apparently not!
Does anyone know if I put the viewing card from my new box into my old one, will I be able to view all the programmes on it? or will this flag up with Sky that I have removed my viewing card?
Can't afford to breach my T&Cs!
Thanks in advance!

You will only be able to view the recordings with the card that was paired to the box when they were made.0

Your new viewing card is paired to your new box & wont fully work in your old one. You'll get the channels for a few day's but no movies or sports, just a 'This is the wrong card for this box' message & you wont get the Sky+ features to work.0

Thats rubbish. I only want to watch what I've already effectively paid for! I thought there would be a way of still doing that.0

I'm assuming that your new subscription is a new and different viewing card? If so, what has happened to the old viewing card that was in the multi-room box which originally authorised the recording?0
-
Yeah new subscription is a different box and viewing card. The old viewing card is still in the original multi room box that has the stuff on it I want to watch.
I might have to get shouty with sky........I wonder if threatening to cancel my nice new subscription will work.....lol0 -
Try hooking up your old box & card, you never know,it might still work or,if you're PC savvy, swap the hard drives over.
Google "Swapping ******** Sky+ Hard Drive" (insert box name,Pace/Thompson ect)0 -

I tried the old card in the old box and it just says playback not available - please phone 0844 blah blah to subscribe.
I'll try calling and asking them nicely.............after 6pm when its free! If that fails then i might shout!
Thanks for your help!0 -
Is it Premium recordings you are trying to watch i.e. movies or sport? If so then the card needs to still be subscribed to those channels for it to decode the recording.
The reason is that the recording is held in a raw format on the hard drive just how it arrives before being decoded. It is then decoded and unencrypted everytime you watch it. If your card no longer is authorised to decrypt those channels it cant do it. As far as I know though the FTA recordings should still decode with the old card used when recorded even though no longer subscribed.0 -
A valid subscription (for channel and Sky+) is required when viewing any programme or recording. You can record any channel even if you do not subscribe to it as long as you have a Sky+ subscription on the viewing card. If the old card has been cancelled unless Sky can reactivate that card then there is absolutely nothing you or Sky can do to view those recordings in thuat box - the recordings are encrypted and "paired" to the original viewing card present when they were made.. The only solution to view those recordings is to remove the hard disks from both the old box and your new box and copy the programmes over from one disk to the other using free software (developed for this purpose) called "copy+" (Google it if interested) BUT this will wipe all recordings on your new box.
Shouting at Sky will do absolutely no good in viewing your old recordings as it was you that cancelled the old subscription and as the manual states a subscripion is required to use the Sky+ facilities.0
