can i ask what i can do now?

i can strip it but unsure how to..

I had the same Bravo as you did. A car which I miss dearly as it was an excellent little motor, but I think the £600 you've been quoted is a bit excessive. Have you rang around other garages to see how much they will charge to fix it?0

Scrapping is easy, just ring your local yards and see who offers the most.
Ebay "for spares or repair" is another option with the start price set at the scrap value.
Isn’t it too young for scrapage scheme?
Final option, assuming you like the car, is ring round for better repair quotes or even more MSE, buy a book and some tools & DIY
.

anythign i can try
the one place which quoted £600 but i can call around but they will say the same price
its doesnt turn over
is there any quick fixes that can be done?0 -
...work permit granted!0

cheers but the value of the car is now much less than £1000, i just cant see me spendign money on it
shame i cant get a quick fix
seen some solutions but unsure if they will work
but wont make the scheme either0 -
do the maths, at the moment you will get a whopping £80 for it as scrap, or you could spend a few hundred on it and get your grand you think its worth....work permit granted!0

sorry for the confusion
i was going to strip it, and then to scrap the rest of it
if it was within the age limit, i couldve put it through the scrrappage scheme but its not possible.0 -
heres what happened yesterday...has the head gone??
i went to my car yesterday morning, and the car didnt start
i feared the worst (because id be late for work)
checked the coolant, and there was caramel gunk inside
so i flushed all this all, and topped up
i already had oil a month before so didnt check this
the car then started, on the way to work, the car was blowing cold air, and the temp gauage was very high (day before it was hot air as normal and temp gauage in the middle)
eventually whilst on the motorway the car started to hesistate when i downshifted, and then started to cut out, which it did.
i popped the bonnet and there was steam/smoke coming out, not a lot.
since then the car has started, the lights/windows work, but it doesnt ignite
the garage said it is head gasket, as i had no oil and also nearly all the coolant i had put in the morning had finsihed
please advise, does this sound like it?0 -
Does sound like typical head gasket symptons.0

I know nothing about cars but my 04 clio recently had a trip to garage as it was really struggling and they said it had no oil in it - they put oil in and said drive for a few says and come back and they would see what damage had occured. The car carried on struggling and I took it to another garage who said that according to the diagnostics it would need new coil pack which they fitted and still no better - they advised to try and get rid asap as they knew I was planning on replacing the car anyway or otherwise I would end up throwing money at it. Anyway, within a couple of days it completely died, would barely move - couldn't even drive it to a garage. It wasn't firing properly so my dad replaced the spark plugs and it improved enough to drive to a garage although it still wasn't firing properly. Can't remember exactly what was wrong with it but it was major problems with the engine (head gasket may have been involved) - spent £450 getting it repaired just so I could part ex it against a new car. Even after it was repaired it wasn't how it used to be, struggled on hills ect and I felt like it was only a matter of time before something else went wrong! I have now part exchanged it (got 2,000 for it so it was worth my repairing it) and got a fiesta.
Anyway, my point is if the engine has been damaged due lack of oil it may not be worth repairing it, unless you can sell it on quickly for more then cost of repairs.
I hope you get something sorted with it and aren't too much our of pocket
I spent about £600 in total due to the lack of oil problem - on a car I wasn't planning on keeping! I am now looking a it as a lesson learnt - I will be very careful about checking oil in future!0
