I've been given loads of radishes just pulled from someones garden, I'm the only person in the house that likes them.
Can I freeze them?
I've just seen the recipe to use the leaves on another thread, that sounds really nice so I'll give that a try

Another allotment overload approaching ( we are already using the cougette guidance). Aside from just eatuing them straight is there anything else you can do with radishes (to eat i mean!). I hate waste but radish wine doesnt appeal much....

u can chop radish and fry them they taste a bit like fried potatoes, i also use them in stir fries etc
wish i had a glut i love the things and some pesky slugs ate all my first lot

Stir fry, now there is a possibilitiy, because it uses up some of the courgettes/marrows aswell. Gave two marrows away at work today but still enough left for marrow wine, marrow jam, marrow chutney .....
4 courgette plants is too many for three families to share, we have discovered.
Thanks....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life0 -
<sobs> wish i had too many, all my favourites got eaten and am now retrying my second batch.... lets hope iget something off the courgettes etc eventually

You can grate them and make Mooli Parantha's (Indian stuffed breads) but we use the long white radish's for these and not the small red ones however I don't see no reason why you can't use the red ones.0

Thanks for the idea of stirfrying radishes. We don't have a glut exactly, but there are only the 2 of us who eat them so even a small amount can seem a bit too much at times. I was pleased to see this thread, cos I have been wondering if there is anything else you can do with radishes. I don't like them in vast quantities, nor does DH0

Raddish Soup??
INGREDIENTS:
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, diced
2 medium potatoes, sliced
4 cups raw radish greens
4 cups chicken broth
1/3 cup heavy cream
5 radishes, sliced
DIRECTIONS:
Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the onion, and saute until tender. Mix in the potatoes and radish greens, coating them with the butter. Pour in chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes.
Allow the soup mixture to cool slightly, and transfer to a blender. Blend until smooth.
Return the mixture to the saucepan. Mix in the heavy cream. Cook and stir until well blended. Serve with radish slices.Official DFW Nerd Club Member No: 286

I don't know if it'll work with all varieties of radish (can't remember the kinds I used, it's a long time since I had a garden) but there are some that will grow pods if you let them run to seed
just let them bolt, keeping them well watered, & when the seed pods form & are around 1" long start trying them out. don't let them get too big or they'll be too hot & coarse. you'll be able to work out by trial & error what's the optimum size. it varies with each variety
you can eat them whole or chopped/sliced, raw or stir fried, whatever you fancy really. they still taste of radish, but the difference in appearance & texture is nice
if you've got a glut anyway, you've nothing to lose by trying it out
EDIT ... they will all make pods, but it seems some are better at it than others, still worth a try if only for the novelty valuemore info HERE

I would be grateful for any tips on how best to store radishes, or indeed any bright ideas on how to serve them? DS loves a wee container of them mixed with a little mayo to have in his lunchbox but I usually end up having to throw some away as we don't use them quickly enough.0
