I renewed my passport last Friday because it was full. I needed 2 passport photo's none of which needed certifying, neither did the application.

It cost a total of £85.50 with check and send.

Received the passport today - so 7 days later.

More an informative thread than anything else.

    Hope this helps.

same. recently did a renewal, used check and send at PO and it was back in less than a fortnight.
  • Must say I was very impresssed with the service from the Passport Office. Myself and 15 year old daughter's passports sent for renewal by normal recorded delivery (didn't use check & send) on 4th Jan, new passports delivered via courier at 07.00am Thursday 7th Jan. I couldn't believe it.:T

  • I sent mine off saturday and got my old one back today with a note saying they are processing so hopefully not to long til new one arrives!

I sent two photos of with it and they returned one inside my old passport. Anyone know why they ask for two photos if they only use one?! Just curious thats all!

I got a letter today rejecting my photos, so I went to Jessops which cost £7 for six passport photos and have posted them. Fingers-crossed

At last, I have received my passport today....a 'biometric one' (has an electronic chip)
  • i sent mine check and send it took 9 days....got it yesterday. My sons was sent same time, his old one came back today so im expecting his any day now.
I think the only thing you can do is ring for an appointment, and go down there.

I paid for the check and send at the post office, but they still sent it back to me to me to do again. My signature is small and they scan it and print a smaller version on the passport. So it vanished.

Even accounting for that, it was only about 10 days.
