How long has your Passport renewal taken

Comments

  • Phoned today like instructed and it has been processed even though yesterday they said they didn't have it at Newport. Its approved and waiting to be printed, could be done tomorrow and sent out, could arrive on Saturday or could not.
Can't work out why they said they never had it yesterday when they obviously did but now its approved they can't upgrade. And now we are in the position of him having a valid passport but not having it in our hand.
    Supposed to go on Sunday.

When i sent for my sons renewel passport it took a week, normal service no extras paid.
  • The thing is our would have only took a week if it had just gone straight to Newport.
  • 13 days here, just got it back last week. I wouldn't agree that all they are looking for now is to get the extra £50/£60 off you though. Its pretty straight forward and they are upfront about the premium you have to pay for a faster service. If you don't want to pay for it then don't, just make sure you are better organised.....

I can't believe you are complaining about this when the situation you are in is of your own making.

    Several questions here.
Why did you leave it till the last minute to renew it as you can apply for a new one upto 9 months before the old 1 expires and they add on those months to the new 1.
If you dont get it back in time what will you do, leave your son behind and go without him or are all of you not going, so then on the scale of things paying the £50 to get it back in time would have been reasonably cheap, as you cant claim on your travel insurance because you dont have his passport.
That is if you have purchased travel insurance and not left that till the last minute. As above you've only got yourself to blame its not the post offices fault or the passport office, but i do hope you get it in time, how disappointing if you dont.

I dont think its really helping to have a go at the OP I think they realise they should of done it sooner, they are in a position where there holiday might be ruined so saying serves you right isn't very nice at all.

OP would it be possible to go and collect the passport from the passport office yourself?

Easier to blame someone else though, isn't it?

Er its not really anyone else faults is it? If the OP had allowed plenty of time to apply for the passport this thread wouldn`t exist.

Anyway back to the original question mine took 1 week on the standard service :o
  • Not sure I have blamed anyone else its my fault no doubt about it. I have commented on the fact that the passport agency were not very helpful.
Managed to change the booking at Disney to the 2nd of December for no extra charge, a woman I had phoned earlier in the week said to change the booking they would have to cancel the old booking and make a new one and it would cost me 75% of the cost to cancel which is why I left it until now as a last resort. So fair play to them.
The passport has been issued and printed and is waiting for the courier to pick it up so should have it by Tuesday.
I didn't know you could renew it 9 months before with the time added on and there are circumstances as to why it wasn't sent off earlier.
Thanks for all the helpful comments
