The Cooperative Bank debit card is a "VISA DEBIT CARD"
I opened a Cashminder account with Cooperative this week and I've just received mine, prefixed 4508.
The enclosed leaflet states:"This new Visa Debit card is a replacement for our current Electron Cards. If you already have an Electron card which is about to expire, or if you have requested a replacement card, then you will benefit from the additional purchasing power of the Visa Debit card. Your new Visa Debit card gives you greater convenience and point-of-sale purchasing power than ever before. It can be used at Visa merchants and ATM locations worldwide to pay for purchases or to withdraw cash and it can also be used for mail order, telephone order and Internet transactions ...Please note ...at this time you cannot use this card as a cheque guarantee card".
So, it seems that the card is essentially a Visa Debit card that simply can't be used to guarantee cheques. No problem, since we don't get issued with a cheque book anyway. What's all the fuss about? There's obviously a glitch in Tesco's system - why anyone'd want to shop there anyway beggars belief. I'm looking forward to having complete freedom of usage once my wages are paid in this month! :j

My point is still that I don't care if it doesn't work at Tescos or Asda, that's the specific store's database error/outdated fault. Don't see how that downgrades the card itself, just means there is a current problem buying at some stores due to stupidity from the store.
I used my card abroad... it's a Full Visa.0 -
I doubt it can be called a full visa if there's problems with merchants and i'll add again, that pay at pumps where ever you try to use it will not work.. not therefore a full visa in my eyes, but i'm with you, i'm happy with the Coop cashminder card, it does all I need it to and trust it not to embarass me as I know and recognise it's faults - and it does have some.0

I think there is a difference between Tesco grocery shopping on-line, which wont accept the card and Tesco On-line for things in their catalogue that will take the card. Probably where the confusion is coming from as someone reported using it successfully on-line with Tesco.0

:mad:I think you will find you can use it at Tesco (on-line) to buy cd & dvd's & books(I've done that) But if you try to get Tesco to deliver from their direct catalogue it says no but you can collect in store - as long as you bring your cashminder debit card in with you. But why should you have to pay £5 to go and collect instore - Argos etc don't charge!:mad:0

Madmonk, shall we take solice..?
How many bankrupts this year, how many more forcasted next year, how many goto the Coop for their cashminder.. how much money are they going to lose not having the system in place to accomodate us. I think they'll wake and smell the coffee soon enough!0
