broxiebear1- May I suggest you post a new thread so your questions get some focused attention?
There are a LOT of really helpful people here who will give you help and advice without giving you false hope or information.
I can't advise you on your questions unfortunately, and every situation is different but if you post a new thread you are sure to get some answers
Also there are a couple of highly recommended debt charities and one of which is CCCS - they have thier own thread on here or you can call them via http://www.cccs.co.uk/ they will be able to help you with your initial decision.
Thanks

I had the same problem with Barclays card but i guess it did not bother me much to start with as i had me superb cashminder but i then needed the second account more for house bills and the like and remembered that when i opened the account i was told that Barclays did not want to Judge BR's and hoped they would become great customers of the future so they would try and help so i put it to the test and popped into my local main branch and asked about the card. I was taken to a really nice lady who have a quick look at the account and said as i have ran the account well for 6 months with no problems they would upgrade the card no problem and within 3 days the new card arrived and it works everywhere even at tesco online :T:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

yeah it's definately a Visa debit for people who open the account now. Don't know about in the past, but as long as I have my card i'm happy. Bought a game from an american, well a canadian site yesterday and it worked and the game's been shipped.0

It seems with the co-op the only cards that cause trouble are the visa branded "4508" prefix
sometimes with online providers you can put the card through as an electron be refused then accepted again of you put the card through as a visa one insteadWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -

Looks like you still have the cash card. Go into branch or call Barclays to change your card to a debit card.
The offering of a VISA debit card on the Barclays Cash Card Account is a new thing which happend this year I believe. You should. This is a full account, full Visa card & all.
That's correct.0 -
Co-op tell me I have a Visa Debit card, but it still begins 4508. I have used it successfully making online purchases, some from abroad, but until it works with Tesco online or pay at the pump, I still believe it to be Electron.BSC 2710

I don't know what the big obsession is with Tesco personally. Surely that's a tesco database problem, rather than the problem with the card.
At the end of the day I just used a Co-op Visa card on a Canadian store. So the fact is it's not an Electron. I had one of those as my first card back in 2000, and you couldn't even use it on Amazon.co.uk back then. Let alone a site abroad. I also just payed my Vodafone bill over the phone with it and it worked. That's just the kind of awkward transaction an Electron card didn't use to let me do. It might be a Visa debit card that has problems working on Tesco and a couple of other sites due to a database problem of some kind, but it certainly is not an Electron card.0 -
It would be interesting to see if your card worked at petrol pay at pumps as that is where I am having problems with my visa debit.0
