New ISP and Phone?

I'm currently with Nildram which in the dim and distant past were a quality company to be with.
I currently have my home phone and my broadband with them and I'm currently paying (what I think) is a premium price (£30/month) for just an OK service (by that I mean I never really have any issues).
My main gripe is they traffic shape after 4pm and it really is annoying when downloads come in at a crawl.
Where would you guys go for decent download speeds and phone package?
Just to add it here I also require newsgroup access.
Or any other thoughts?

Have Sky Broadband myself and we're thinking about adding Sky talk to the package as it will actually save us more money on our broadband package.
The broadband has been really good for the last 10 months (been with Nildram so know exactly what you mean.) and currently is £15 a month, think it goes down to £10 a month with Sky Talk.0 -
No traffic shaping that I've been aware of. Mind you I don't download much anymore due to being kicked off my previous provider last Christmas.
Not sure about Newsgroup access.
It's also a 12 month contract with Sky or at least it was in January.0 -
For a top quality ISP, you can't beat Zen, but I don't think they do any phone packages. Been a happy customer for years, although I do also remember Nildram being excellent, several clients of mine used to use them.
All Zen packages are 1 month contracts, so you are never tied in too.0 -
I was with Zen years ago but can't remember why I left them as they were always good.0

Just had a look at IDNet and they look quite pricey for not a huge amount of download.0

Any of these stand out (I haven't checked any for phone packages yet!)0 -

Indeed, but they are high quality provider, their phone package is first class and brilliant value.
Don't forget that uploads are not counted in bandwidth allowances at IDNet, I have been with them for 3 years, no regrets at all.0 -
