This is incorrect, as other replies show - inclusive texts are used up at 4 for 1.

Sim4travel is no cheaper at all than using O2 with its ITS option, which is 120p a minute to call, 85p receive, no daily use fees.

Other global SIMs might be worth looking at, some of which seem to have free incoming calls there and could be diverted to from O2's inclusive minutes, but the OP implied few calls would be made. I can add more if required after all

redux is right re the above. i recently left O2 but have travelled to south america frequently and it was the one great benefit of being on that network - 4 texts used up when sending one, out of your monthly contract allowance, no extra charges. never had a problem with it.
if you're worried, just drop them an email clarifying and confirming that it applies to your tariff - they take up to 24 hours to reply but their customer service is relatively good. at least you'll know for sure.edit - sorry - just re-read that you called them.

re the voicemail: you don't have to turn it off to avoid getting charged. hope i'm not wrong, in the ever changing world of T & Cs, but all i ever did was 'Divert ALL Calls'. Anyone calling you will go straight to voicemail, in the UK. you don't get charged. You'll get a free text letting you know if there is a mesage. You can check your voicemail from a landline in Mexico (internet cafe/cheap calls booths) by getting your own voicemail retrieval number, a lot cheaper than getting a travel sim or using your mobile. the O2 help section on line has all the details, or you can call them on your mobile re how to set it up, if you want to.
of course, don't mean to be presumptuous! you might not want to hear from anyone!
