EBay would not send you a email like that. If you want confirmation phone their customer services number but i will be gobsmacked if it is genuine.Member of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -
thanks for the support. if it is a scam it just worries me that other people might actually send the items and be out of pocket. seems unfair that people like us that are trying to actually make some cash in a positive way to help ourselves in these times can be targeted so easily. they also obviously now have my personal email address if it is them sending the email which also worries me. maybe ebay UK could do more to protect people in UK ?taken on second job + £160 per month

well, ebay have confirmed it is nothing to do with them and not to worry about it. Thought the scammer would have given up by now but obviously not as they have just sent me the same email again!
The relisted phone is due to end on Monday and I've had a lot of interest. Could anyone offer me any advice when it comes to actually posting the item so that I can cover myself from all angles? It's going to sell for over £250 and I dont want it going missing or whatever or someone trying to claim something stupid. Obviously send it special next day delivery but anything else i can do?taken on second job + £160 per month

Don't send it as Paypal are obviously looking at something. I'd also email the buyer and inform them of this. You need to send special delivery which is fully tracked and will cover up to £500. Only send to the Paypal address. Make sure you take doown the IMEI number as well incase of problems0

Definitely don't send it yet! As said above, Paypal may have seen something suspicious on the buyer's account. It has been reported that they have even given sellers the "ok" to send an item and a couple of days later have changed it to "do not send".
Do a bit of research on your buyer yourself. Check what they have been bidding on and buying via advanced search or goofbay.0 -

Wait until paypal tell you you can send it, then wait a further day. What feedback does the buyer have, is any of it recent, have they bought other high-value things before or is it all just penny auctions to build feedback ?0 -
did a search on goofbay and this looks like their 3rd purchase. other two are what look like to be xmas pressies. not cheap items either, one about £30 and the other £15. They have 0 feedback but they have left good feedback for the sellers they bought from. I emailed them and they said that they did not know why paypal are not releasing the funds but that they have only had an account for the past two weeks. Seems like a genuine person but then again dont they all. just getting frustrated as i would like the money to buy my own xmas presents! should i just wait? also i stated in my auction listing for 0 feedback bidders to contact me first so that i try and work out if they were genuine or not and they just bid at the last min and paid so would i be entitled to refund their dosh and offer it to the 2nd highest bidder who is someone who has over 300 feedback and that i have personally sold to before?taken on second job + £160 per month

Agree with rsykes200. Leave it a day or 2 after Paypal say you can send the item and log in again to check before sending.
As you have emailed them to advise of the problem with Paypal they should expect a delay in dispatch. They may mark yor stars down but that's better than losing your item and money.
It is probably a genuine buyer as they have not been buying a lot of similar high value items but make sure you protect youself by sendind SD to the paypal address.
If you refund them and sell to to 2nd bidder, you will leave yourself open to a neg feedback and a non-performing seller report. You will also pay 2 lots of listing and fvf fees.0
