Hi all, this is the first time I have posted on this thread!!
My dilema...........my cat has just given birth to 2 kittens
(and I dont know if there are any more) in the utility room on top of my daughters uniforms:eek:!!! Im not worried about the uniforms as she has a spare one in her room what im worried about is the fact that the cat is hissing every time I go near her!! She will have to be moved but I dont know how or when to do this! The children are mega excited, and I have told them that the cat needs her privacy and to leave her be......our fridge is in the utility room too, so access is being denied for a while!
please please help me with this dilema!! I really dont know what to do!

call the vets and ask for advice, then get the poor girl speyed0

I'd quietly find a box and old blanket and put it in a corner near her and leave her be for a while, you could phone the vet for advise once they open but cats usually manage very well by themselves just keep an eye on her... I am sure once she is finished and has fed and cleaned her kits she will not be so aggresive , she needs quiet at the moment.#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Do you have a good strong bag, a brick and a canal nearby? (only joking)Je suis sabot...0

she is just following instinct and protecting her babies, she will calm down soon enough.
and when the deed is done, i dont think its very appropriate to be preaching about "getting the poor girl spayed" - not particularly constructive at this very moment, is it? the cat wont be thinking she's a "poor girl", she will be quite chuffed to have had some babies!!Mummy to

Hi
Cats are usually cope quite well. When my cat had kittens she was very determined where she wanted to give birth and just got on with it. I would leave her if you can and just keep an eye on her and talk to her in a reassuring tone. If she has only had 2 there may be more to come. My Penny was only a small cat and had 4 so that may be why she is hissing at you. The vet will be happy to give advise if you are worried.
Congrats

myothercarisaferrari, rang vet, and was told to leave her alone for a while.....I am going to get her spayed but a poor thing she is not, she is a loved cat and probably a little spoilt.
Tanith, I have put a blanket and her food into the utility room, the cat is currently licking her kittens who are squeaking and mum is now purring. I have never experienced this before and im a little nervey......the oldest kids are away to school now and the younger ones will be leaving in five mins!! Thanks for your help!:jIm going to be frugal:j:DIm going to be frugal:D;)Im going to be frugal;)Beetlejuice Beetlejuice...................:rotfl:0 -

:rotfl:how do you know the cat wont actually be horrified at the thought of having a load of kittens hanging off her nipples for at least eight weeks!
My cats had kittens about 4 years back, both within days of each other (we had only just got them and believed them to be male ) they were the same, hissy because they werent done in labour yet. I would leave them for 24 hours if you can, then wait till she is eating some food and gentley transfer the kittens to a box on top of the uniforms. When mum gets back in the box, move kittens and mum in the box to somewhere more suitable. Oh and phone the vet before you do, worked fine for me and my cats, but I didnt take advice before doing so.:starmod:Sealed Pot Challenge Member 1189:starmod:0
