I bought 2 bottles of the Andre Carpentier champagne, down from £24.99 to £10 a bottle in Tesco. I just happened to see them yesterday when I was browsing the champagne section. Bargain!! One for Xmas day, 1 for New Years Eve.0

I would disagree with previous poster re Andre Carpentier champagne - I found it very disappointing and similar to some 3 euro sparkling I get in France, but the Nicholas Feuillate is excellent and a bargain at £13.99.0

I saw Piper Heidseck Champagne for £8-89 (I am sure this was the price) in the CO-OP this afternoon. I had already bought champagne from tesco:( yesterday, two for £25 own brand.0

Don't forget at sainsburys you can combine certainly the £10 offer with their long running buy 6 bottles and get an extra 5% off (Mix and match with ordinary wine)
I cleared out the last four £10 bottles from my local one last night and grabbed a pair of other 'special offer' white wines too to make the 6 and got 5% off the lot :T
If they put more Champagne out this evening when I'm passing I may stock up for the year0 -
In my experience you would normally have to be spending more than £30 or so to find Champagne that tastes much better than a decent Vintage Cava or a nice Prosecco.
Also for most people the name Moet et Chandon is the one that springs to mind when thinking of Champagne. Their "premier" (and exceedingly expensive) Dom Perignon Champagne can be exquisite - but the lower end M et C should be avoided.
You can be lucky and discover a good tasting Champagne for reasonable money .... and in fact some of the supermarket "own brand" Champagnes can be amongst the best at reasonable prices.
For my part I'll be sticking to Cava or Prosecco.Mark0 -
