What can the police do? If i just walk in with all the details and that what exactly are they going to do?
And is anyone actually going to answer paypals phone0 -
Surprisingly they have access to trace computers and bank accounts!!
I wouldnt have suggested it if I thought that you would get your money back from paypal.
It's FRAUD - in the broadest sense, a fraud is an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual. The specific legal definition varies by legal jurisdiction. Fraud is a crime, and is also a civil law violation.
It's worth a try isnt it??Life is a rollercoaster.....ya just gotta ride it:whistle:0 -
Natwest cant do anything they just gave me paypals number ARGHHH
Tell your bank you have paid for goods and not recieved them.
You will prob win the paypal case and they will say 'if the seller ever gets money in his a/c you will get the money back' but do not hold your breath chances are paypal account is empty and will not be used again.
Get back onto your bank. Tell them whole story0 -
How people can do this is beyond me
I really do feel for you.
Definately contact the police as others have said, they take it very seriously believe it or not and you will be suprised how many reports they get daily regarding Ebay cons.

I might aswell start scamming myself if its so easy to get away with...0 -
police will not do anything unless they get a few reports or unless it is a decent amount. still worth reporting. mind you if you dispute with debit/visa then paypal may report if they can be bothered.0

Duno if this is any use but i paid with Natwest's overdraft facility? Would that change anything towards the way natwest responded to me0

You have almost no chance of getting your money back. If you had bought through ebay Paypal would have protected you 100% as its an off ebay transaction if the seller empties there account and Paypal rule in your favour you still won't get your money back as Paypal won't cover this as its an off ebay transaction. Natwest won't be able to do with it as you were happy to hand the money ove.
Looking at the sellers History you were either incredibly Naive or just plane stupid. yes report to the police but they won't be able to do much.
You will have to chalk this down to a very hard lesson learnt0 -
Don't know if this is still the case as it was in 2003 when I was told this but anyway, when I was helping somebody that was scammed back then to try to recover the money she was told by the bank that Switch and Solo were guarenteed payments and therefore could'nt be reversed, and all they could advise then was to pay via credit card which offered much more protection. As I say though that might be old info now so you'll need to check.Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive0

If your card has the visa logo on it....approach your bank again and mention you want to apply for VISA CHARGEBACK FOR GOODS NOT RECEIVED. This may only work if your card carries the VISA logo and recently Natwest were changing many maestro and solo accounts over with Visa.0
