A visit to the local Police Station once you have informed paypal may be in order.
If the plonker has sent this from his personal computer, whether he closes it down or not he/she IS traceable. The paypal account may be closed but to cash the money in it has to be through a bank account which is also traceable. They may be able to give duff info for the paypal account but the bank account is a different kettle of fish.
Keep any copies of emails sent/received aswell.
Good luck and lets hope you get the cash back.Life is a rollercoaster.....ya just gotta ride it:whistle:0 -

You won't get it back from Paypal because you presumably just sent the £150 to them as a gift. Maybe if you paid via credit card you'll be covered, hopefully someone who knows more can help regarding that. Could try the police maybe, surely this counts as fraud? Again hopefully someone who knows a bit more can help.
I feel sorry for you, but this is just another example of why you should ignore and report any messages on ebay that request to trade off of ebay.0 -
next time you do an outside deal
1. empty paypal a/c
2 pay via visa
as paypal protection is a con0 -
I paid via a solo debit card, in the invoice i made them type the ebay item number i was buying and paid via goods not gift if thats any help? Should i contact the bank can they do anything?0

I'm really sorry you've been scammed, but eBay does warn you about completing transactions outside of eBay for this very reason. I hope that whilst this will be a lesson learned, it will turn out to be a non-expensive lesson. I expect that the owner of the ebay account you 'bought' the ps3 from has been the victim of a phishing scam and their account was used.0

Paypal protection is 100% on ebay, however in this instance it was not an ebay transaction so OP has only limited protection and will only get a paypal refund if the seller has money in their account. If seller has cleared out their account then paypal will just find for the buyer but not recover any funds at all.
Basically write your money off, you have fallen for a very obvious scam and I doubt whether you will be able to trace this money at all or even get the police interested.
Also you do need to take some basic precautions when buying from an unknown source, the ID you quote is from a zero feedback seller who had opened an account in 2005 and never used it.
