My kids still think it's a treat to have fizzy in the house.....I generally buy fruit juices for them (not cordial).
My family Christmas memories are brilliant, my parents didn't have much money in the early years but they always made it wonderful for us. On alternate years we would stay at the respective nans or they would stay with us, my uncles and aunties would make their way down for Christmas and boxing day and the party on boxing day night was legendary....you never wanted to miss it.
My presents tended to come from the second hand shop or mum made them and there was only one small one from them but did we care? Or judge? Nope, because they made the rest of Christmas a very special time.
Things did get better once dad returned to work and he got his compensation although they still had a strict amount allowed for each of us, just that the presents were new instead of from the second hand shop.....even now they allocate £15 per family member, and they never used credit to finance it.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Since the early 90s my wife's father has bought her a large box of Ferrero Rocher every Xmas, without fail.PasturesNew wrote: »We always seemed to have a pack of dates and a pack of those orange/lemon sugared slices.
She 'hates' those chocolates! But still, she just sits there and smiles politely.:rotfl:
Women are definitely more diplomatic.0 -
Can I play? I earn megabucks, have a home and most of the trappings.
Oh, and I have the love of a good woman.
Do I win?
Out of the first line, then second line of the post you made, which is the most valuable? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
maybe he wouldn't have the love of the good woman, unless he had the megabucks. then what is more important?0

.
Pop is chaper than fruit juice probably.
We had those frozen orange juices when I was little, they were in a little cardboard thing in the freeer to make up with water I guess
for breakfast. I'm pretty sure as a kid, like now, I drank water not anything that cost anything. Oh, and a glass of milk.
In US and near by places my mother went through a phase of allowing me cool aid though. Thats probably pretty unhealthy stuff indeed.0 -
Oh my, I am so embarrassed now...I thought Lemonjelly was female!
I've now got to start reading his posts with a male voice in my mind and not a female one.....PasturesNew wrote: »So did I!
Blimey ... it's all change here isn't it.
Not the first thread to wonder about my gender. Makes me think a lot about how we all imagine each other. One part of me asks if it really matters?
Treliac, please tell me about my male raunchiness!:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

It quite possibly is cheaper but it's one of the things I feel strongly about and so make the extra effort to get them something decent to drink instead (they do drink lots of water too but it's nice to have a change sometimes).
We have to be careful with milk, middle son is intolerant and youngest will go non verbal/withdraw due to the casein in it.
Eldest though will spend his own money on copious amounts of fizzy, he was gutted when he was told he has to give it up now due to his recent diagnosis. We made it!
