ring up the school as early as possible and explain situation. they may allow him to go to opticians and sit exam later in day. school will insist on no contact whatsoever with any other pupil- they could tell him what is in exam. when i was in school my friend due to personal reasons had to sit her exams later in day- she had to stay with a teacher in the headmistresses room and sit exam there.0

You have 10 hours left, why not try to find the spares0

i've just looked on internet and there seems to be an opticians in scotland which has a 24 hour emergency helpline. not sure if they come out in night. would glasses be covered under household insurance - if accident could you phone insurance company and ask if they know whether any opticians would could and provide glasses in emergency. labs only take 1 hour to make up glasses. nhs have a helpline- they may be able to point you in right direction. police have list out of hours doctors. dentists, & opticians????- bit extreme but another option.0

You're allowed to start exams up to 30 minutes after the start time. So the school could hold the exam back a few minutes, and then hopefully it could all be sorted within the 30 mins allowed.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

If it was me......
I would take the prescription to the supermarket and buy a different pair of specs for each eye in the same style. Then I would shove one of the lenses out of each pair of glasses, swap them and try to get them back into the other frames. If that didn't work I would superglue the lense to the frame.
It wouldn't look great but he'd be able to see to do the exam.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

thats not quite true actually.
due to timetable clashes, extenuating circumstances etc it is not uncommon for exams to take place hours (and i know of one incident of more than 24 hours) after the scheduled slot for the exam.
pupils do have to be supervised to ensure they have no contact with those who have already sat the exam, to avoid cheatingknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
