When you leave a job voluntarily you can have your claim sanctioned for up to 26 weeks. However each case is different and a "decision maker" decides on the actual sanction.

It sounds like this is what has happened.

I would go sign on anyway (to get the help) and ask to appeal.
What on earth do I do now, am I expected to live off nothing? Buy food with buttons or what?

What about your partner, does he not work?

When did you start claiming JSA? Contributions based only lasts for six months anyway, which could be what one of the two letters saying it is ending refers to.

Started claiming (backdated) from the 1st July, so I would still have until 1st Jan to go...

Not being funny, but what do you intend to live on after 1st Jan then?

I think I can guess which island from your user name, and I am very envious :D.

I'd give them a ring and say you have received two letters with conflicting end dates, and don't understand why. It will be an opportunity to ask why it is being stopped at all before 1st Jan. No point guessing really.

It would seem very unfair if they do stop your JSA on the basis of what might be a load of lies, but I'm not sure what the rules are on this. I find it a bit strange that they showed your side of the story to your ex boss tbh.

Hope someone else comes along soon to help you further - there are several experts on this board so I'm sure someone will be able to explain the ins and outs.

Nothing to stop you making that call in the meantime though.

Incidentally, given your location which is a tourist area, have you contacted all the local hotels and restaurants? I bet they are taking on extra catering staff for the Christmas period. Even if you could just get a bar work job it might lead to other things.
