i have a wasps nest in my garden in my railway sleeper. There is a couple of HUGE wasps buzzing around and have been going in and out alll day long.
What can I do to get rid of them? Before my cat eats them!!
thanks

We spray the nest and them with fly spray. We have regular infestations in various locations, and it always does the trick.
Hope I don't get pounced on for cruelty.0 -
i'll give it a try! i hate killing things - but my cat is allergic to wasps stings- we had a very bad incident last year which nearly killed her - so i have to to protect her!0

Other option, Phone the council although they charge £50 but if you have any of the following benefits then you'll be charged £30.....
The reduced charge applies if the head of the household can show proof that they receive any one of the following benefits:
Council Tax benefit;
Working Tax Credit (means tested element recipients only) - [proof of Tax Credit Award via Notice Form TC602 is required];
Housing benefit;
Income Support;
Invalid Care Allowance;
Job Seekers Allowance;
Pension.But first, the most asked question:
Q "Is anything worn under your kilt???"
A "No. Everything is in perfect working order Thank You!!."0 -
Also, If you do elect to treat the nest yourself, it should be carried out early morning, late evening or when wasp activity is at a minimum.

Just use Ant powder around the hole where they're going in and out - in the evening when they're not active. Don't use it if it's windy and don't breath it in. Works immediately.Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

Try soaking the nest in petrol (but DON'T light it!). The fumes are heavier than air and suffocate the wasps. We have used this method a number of times where access was a problem.0

Please be careful. The council offers this service because it is dangerous to tackle on your own!
When the council guy arrives he will be in a spacesuit for his own protection. Don't think you can just put a teatowel over your face and run for it!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. However you treat it I'd also recommend keeping the cat indoors for a while during and after the treatment. You don't want it to meet any 'angry' wasps.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

We had one under the kitchen roof last year,my OH bought a tin of raid from wilko ,wore his motor cycle helmet and gloves and sprayed them.
When there was one hanging in our shed,I just wrapped it in a plastic bag held up with drawing pins.0
