Yes it would be nice to know the outcome.
So to sum up, they don't legally have to let you out, but they might as goodwill. No harm in asking.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks, sorry I can't post very often as I am waiting for broadband to be installed still.
I will write to vodafone in the coming week and keep you all updated.Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.
wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!0 -
Good for you. It is only be people standing up for their rights that things get changed. The mobile phone industry should have a responsibility to provide a service wherever possible. The problem really is that there should have been a central organisation owning the masts so that everyone gets the same signal. If each network can just wash their hands of this problem whenever it occurs there is no incentive for them to even bother to look for solutions.True!
But explaining the situation to Vodafone may sort something out.
As for being a fair contract on both sides it cannot be. If the network stopped providing you by their choice they would I believe not have to pay you compensation for the rest of the contract but you do the other way round.
Just a point on changing things and what this forum is about. A few years ago if some people on here had started to complain about high bank charges a lot of you would have said there is nothing that could be done about it. Tell Martin that.:T0 -

Number 1 - it's not rights. You have the right to whatever is in the t&c at the time you agree. And no mobile phone company guarantees service to everywhere.
The mobile phone industry is a relatively immature one compared with radio and tv. In parts of the country, you can not get tv signals or even FM radio, so why mobile companies should have to provide 100% coverage before the broadcasting industry defeats me. Travel on a train or motorway and you will hit numerous black spots - and I don't mean tunnels either!
Number 2 - if there was an obligation to provide 100% coverage - and, of course O2/Voda & Orange/T-Mobile are on different frequencies - then this would have cost implications for every user to cover the additional infrastructure. What they should do, as I believe they are - is share new and replacement masts if possible.
The implications of any mobile company cancelling a contract if a user can't get reception when they move house is considerable. If you make contracts able to be cancelled like that, then the obvious move would be for "free" mobile phones to cease to be available - as in other parts of the world - as for a network to cancel a contract is only to lose revenue, but when they have laid out either commission or paid out for a mobile phone, then that is a real loss.0
