Willsmum and the debt monster

Afternoon All!
Not had a particularly great couple of days. My car is going to die. I can feel it and I am worried. The bloody thing keeps playing up and I know it is on the way out. To be fair it is 12 years old so it's probably not got that much life left. Problem is, I have no money to buy a new one so I could have to start buttering up my Dad :rotfl:.
Feeling more than a little bit fed up of being in debt right now. I have gone from being really proud of myself for getting things sorted to being REALLY annoyed with myself for getting myself into this mess in the first place .
I am starting to have more than a mild panic attack about the impending possibility that interest rates are going to go up as my mortgage would probably cripple me if they do.
Sorry, this is turning out to be a really depressing post.
On the plus side, managed to buy myself some new make up yesterday for £5 from boots. I was literally down to the last day of foundation and managed to get 3 Natural Collection products for £5 so treated myself to a foundation, pressed powder and a new eye pencil. It really is the small pleasures in life you enjoy more when you are in debt, isn't it?
Hope everyone is okay

:T on the cheap make-up purchases. You are SOOOO right about those little things meaning more!
Sorry to hear about the impending funeral for your car. What's your dad favourite meal? Go shopping NOW!
And don't beat yourself up about getting into debt: yes, it happend, no it isnt good, but don't waste the energy you now need to focus on getting rid of it by doing what is actually counter-productive. Go get 'em! xPlease call me 'Pickle'

Pickle - thanks for the pick me up - really needed it!
Things are going well (ish) at the moment. I have had my wage slip and the "reduction in hours" has cost me only £17 a week so no where near as bad as I originally thought. To be honest I have paid a lot less tax than I did before so pleased about that :j
The car is holding on. Hubby has sorted the handbrake and she seems to be doing well at the moment. Fingers crossed we can still be friends for a while longer :-)
I am due an expensive month this month what with one thing and another so I don't think I am going to be able to knock anywhere near as much of my debts this month as I did in January.
I have shelled out on a "toddler Clock" for my son which cost £35. I am hoping it will be the best £35 I have ever spent in my life. My son has a built in alarm which goes off anywhere between 3.30am and 4:45am. He is 3 and a half and has done this since the day he was born. Needless to say hubby and I are both exhausted and fed up so we are willing to try anything! It arrived yesterday and we tried it for the first time last night. I set it for the "sun to come up" at 4.45 which I thought was a bit optimisitc actually as it is RARE that my son ever stays in bed this late (can't quite believe I am referring to 4.45am as late! :rotfl:). Anyway, in he strides to our bedroom at 4.36. So, I say "Is the Sun up yet?" knowing full well it wasnt. He was then promptly marched back to bed (not too much complaining) where he stayed for the next 9 mins :rotfl:until "the sun came up"! He was then praised and told how wonderful he was for staying in bed until the sun came up. Now, I know I am really pushing my luck, but do you think I should try for 5am tomorrow??
Well, must be off. i want to have a play and see if I can find any more money for this months bills!!!
Take Care All

Glad to hear that the reduction hasn't cost you so much, that the car is still holding in there and don't worry about not being able to pay off as much this month - I'm exactly the same.
I think Feb is the danger month for MSErs, ironically, not Jan. Oh well. Roll on March...(Insert rolly eyed smiley here)
As for the clock (you devious mother!
), maybe it would be better to get him to stay in bed the whole time until the sun comes up first, then increase it by 5 minute incraments to get him to stick to it. I guess that 15 mins is a long time at that age, so if you stick an extra 15 mins on straight away, it might make him restless, and if he gets into the habit of popping out of bed before the sun comes up, he might eventually stop paying much attention and it might be counterproductve.
Good luck. Tee hee, I'm still laughing at the fact that someone made a clock like that!

That clock sounds brilliant!! My OH is a lark which is good as we get up at 0530(!!) during the week. He can't lie in beyond 0700 though on weekends and it kills me! I keep telling him he can't even speak to me til 0900. Where is this clock from~?0

IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!
I was being a bit optimistic and set the clock for 5.00am (a whole 15 mins longer than yesterday :rotfl:) and at precisely 5 o'clock my little man came into the bedroom and said "Mummy, the sun is up!".
I couldn't believe it!!! I am so pleased. He hasn't slept until 5am - EVER!!! :j:j:j:j:j
The clock is called a "groclock" and I got it from Amazon. The way this is going I am seriously considering buying shares in the Company because they are "Superstar Geniuses!!"

Afternoon All!
Right, I have had a complete mare of a week so here is the long and short of it:
Good News
Clock is now set at 5.30 and is still working!! Heaven! :rotfl:
Bad News
Was rushed into hospital on Monday with a ruptured cyst on my ovary (not nice, trust me) and was stuck there until tuesday night. Wasn't allowed to go to work yesterday and so my total hours for this week will be - 5. How the hell am I going to live on 5 hours for a whole week??? Having a bit of a wobble about it because I really wanted to pay off a couple of hundred quid off my virgin card next week, but that just isn't going to happen now.
Sorry this post isn't very long, but my son had hos jabs this morning (poor thing) and is very grumpy right now so trying to keep him entertained.

Hugs for you Willsmum. Take a deep breath and don't beat yourself up about the repayments. It is an uphill battle debt busting especially when its a large amount, just look at my siggy. Take time to make sure you are properly recovered.

hope you're feeling better now you're out of hospital.
talking about scheming parents, when my nephew was little and visited them he was told he wasn't allowed out of the bedroom till the chiming clock had chimed 7. Once he was in bed they would move the clock back an hour and he didn't used to disturb them till 8! lol0 -
Sorry I haven't been on for a while, but I have had a VERY strange week.
I went to the doctors on Monday because I wasn't quite feeling myself. It was as though the dark clouds from my depression were creeping back so I thought that I had better go and do something about it before I got into a mess again.
It turns out that he now thinks that I have Bipolar and I have to go for a psychiatric assessment . He has put me on some tablets in the mean time and I am waiting for them to kick in at the moment, I am just struggling with the concept of being on medication for the rest of my life now.
On the plus side, my wages weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be after having the couple of days off last week. However, a trip to the dentist which I had planned to cost me about £16 is now going to cost me £200 as I need a crown.
2010 really isn't turning out to be the amazing debt busting year I had hoped. At least I managed to make a good start in January and March is looking a better month so I am just going to do what I can with February and keep moving forward.
I think I may have found a nursery for my little man (who is now getting up at 6am on weekends :j). Fully funded so it won't cost me anything - thank god!
Well, I am going to pop off now and I will try and make my next post more positive. Feel like all I have done since I started this diary is winge and I am sorry for that.
Take care everyone
