wow! Looks like you've got loads in.
If you cook things like casseroles or stew, you can bulk them out with veg to make extra and freeze half, then your DH would still get meat, but you are making 2 meals instead of 1!
I do this when we're struggling as my DH loves his meat too and doesn't think he's had a proper meal unless there is some meat in there somewhere!!!!!0 -
Good luck shellbell glad you hadn t given up on the boards altogther and we ll see you back on gc soon.
As for oh you have to just tell him its tough ,its either cut back on meat or he needs to go earn some cash from some where ebay etc.
Though he probably won t need to with your stocks ,i think it could last two months.
Good luck with your challenge and with any luck you ll clear your cupboards ,freezer etc in time for your christmas shop .(see think of the positives lol )

Hi Shelbell
Why dont you join the Grocery challenge? I think your thread will probably be moved there anyway and you will get loads of support.
You have quite alot in, so I think you should be fine.
Good Luck!!

Have just sorted through rotunda and have found the following that need using:
2 bags of shredded coconut
3 bags of mixed fruit
Chopped Nuts
Large jar of mincemeat
2 tins of black treacle
1 tin of golden syrup
2 packs marzipan
Big box of icing sugar
2 bags of soft brown sugar
1 bag of dark muskavado sugar
Have all other basics like flour, marg, eggs etc etc-but dont know why i bought the above items as i never use them...lol. My sister sometimes makes coconut rock cakes, but i dont know the recipe but think it was very basic. I need items that will freeze well if possible. There is a mixed fruit cake mix for the BM that I may try after OH has finished doing his pizza bases??
Any suggestions?
The items need using up and some are very slightly out of date-but should be ok to cook and freeze
Sorry you didnt like that Paxo-but it was truly awful..wasnt it-so dry!!
Thanks all

I use a crumbled up Oxo cube with water to make any stuffing with, and like to make it quite damp before cooking, the oxo gives a flavour to some of the odd stuffing mixes that are usually on sale cheaply after christsmas.
I love it when Mr Ts or sainsbobs cut-price their exotic stuffing mixes to pennies0 -
I've been here since 2003 (different name but everyone knows who I am) and I've been merged before
The DFW board has individual people's threads, and to be honest it's a nightmare.
You might think this thread is of no benefit to you, but your posts on it - and the replies to you - are useful to me and probably others too.
You'll probably find that the suggestions to you will be the same as the ones throughout the whole thread, so you'll end up with more infoI am a coffee bean0 -
Thank you.
I've asked for the thread to be deleted, but that hasn't happened yet, as there is no benefit to me of it being in here. This isn't a store cupboard challenge, and never will be. It seems the relative newcomers like me who don't post so often get treated very differently from more long standing members.
I think that's very unfair to the board guides. As troo says the board would be very clogged and impossible to navigate if everyone had their own challenge thread. There is so much info on here but because the BGs keep it tidy we are able to find the stuff we need rather than trawl through individual threas. It also saves us repeating ourselves and giving the same advice to people who ask the same questions that have been asked on previous threads. I really think you will gain from this thread so please stick around.

Hi guys,
sorry i haven't posted I was away tues-fri..... left my wife with a very detailed menu plan
Made three banana cakes before i went and popped two in the freezer (took the other with me).
I was starting to run very low on meat and so I have bought 3 chickens from Mr T. Should be able to make a fair bit from that.
40 days is starting to feel like a very tall order as I have so little of my £50 left. Still it day 13 and I would usually have spent £139.28 by now so it's still quite a saving. We're about to have another foster child move in so I'm not sure how much longer this personal challenge will be working for me.
Day 13 - roast chicken, potato and veg followed by angel delight

I made up the tail end of mustard powder yesterday for a bbq: the scraggly ends of some currants & sultanas went into last week's flapjack & a diddly pack of suet to make a pastry crust--another three packets & a tin gone there :j
I really need to work through the freezer--more so after the expected guests failed to materialise for the barbie, & I had to squeeze in the surplus burgers & sausages. There's no room for the thirty+ rolls but I'll make some bread & bread & butter puddings--more suet & dried fruit going in thoseFull time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.
