I have a bag of Quinoa Flakes that I bought after watching Gillian MCkeith and never used so I did a search and found this recipe on the net and I have all the ingredients in my cupboard so I am making them this afternoon...
Banana-Quinoa Muffins
1/2 cup Quinoa Flour, 1/2 cup Quinoa Flakes, 2 Tbsp Honey, 2 tsp Baking Powder, 1 tsp Baking Soda, 1/2 tsp Salt, 2 very ripe bananas, 2 eggs.
Peheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix flour and flakes with dry ingredients. In separate bowl mix together bananas, eggs and honey, add to dry ingredients. Pour into greased muffin tins. Bake 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees. Note fill muffin tins 1/2 full.Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

jam tarts were a total success thanks - made them twice now - didn't realise how easy pastry was to make!
Flapjacks were lovely!
Lentil soup was ok - needed a bit more flavour though!
Thanks little red0 -
as Ive got some mince and tatties to use up (only bought the tatties to make soup as I don't really like them on their own!! Not very ms I know). I'm planning on making these today for my lunch boxes in the week.(i'll try and post a piccy later once I've made them so its easier to see what I'm on about:rotfl:)
Its a family recipe so not to sure where it came from originally, no exact amounts as I just tend to just chop the tatties till it looks like I have enough to bulk out the mince
dice up a tattie or two, (into quite smallish cubes as it cooks quicker)
dice an onion
separate the raw mince into smallish "chunks"
Make up some shortcrust pastry ( I make about 6oz worth)
roll out pastry and cut into rounds.(with the amount I use I get 4 rounds)
in the middle of each round put a bit of mince, bit of tatty and bit of onion add a bit of salt and pepper if you wish(ratios to suit you as I don't like tatties I put less of them in and more of the other two)
brush the edges with milk/beaten egg, pinch up the two opposite sides into the middle to make a pasty shape
brush with beaten egg/milk and put on baking tray
cook for approx 10 mins at 220C then reduce heat to 180 C and cook for a further 40 mins(or until golden )
nice served hot or cold esp with a bit of yellow pickle and a salad:D
and any left over pastry from the cutting usually goes towards a couple of jam tarts so no wastageJune Grocery Challenge 270.80/250July Grocery Challenge 0/3000 -

Hi alamaya,
Welcome to Old Style. :hello:
There aren't really any rules to the storecupboard challenge. The idea is to try to 'shop' from your cupboards and use up food that you have in rather than buying more.
You can find a link to all the challenges in the bar directly under the Old Style (Thrifty) resource bar towards the top of the main page on Old Style. Here is a direct link to the Store cupboard Challenge.
Good luck with cutting back.

Yes, Thanks razra! Your recipe sounds great, think I will give it a go. Anybody have any pie plate recipes? My mum used to talk about these. She mad one on one of those metal pie plates. She lined the plate with pastry and the filling was a sliced up tin of ham with eggs carefully broken on top and then the patry top put on. Another one she did was cooked diced potatoes mixed with a tin or corned beef which had been softened with a bit of hot water. She added any soft tomatoes to it as well.
I make these for hubby and he takes them to work as they are good hot or cold.
Enjoy.0
