Store cupboard challenge

Cant get out due to excessive snow fall, so will have to do store cupboard meals all weekend, unless I can persuade OH to go out for me
So, used up the last of the old loaf and made sandwiches with grated cheese, mixed with Worcester sauce and then toasted.
Not sure what we will have for tonight's dinner, but there is sure to be something in the freezer or cupboard. I seem to hoard things as if we are going to have a food shortage or something. Still, comes in handy when we have weather like this!!Sealed pot challenge no 889: £143.96 saved :j

What you got in Ben?
I have dug out a pack of mince and Im going to make my ( getting famous!) mexican chilli & bean soup. With the last of OHs tortillas he made- I might grate a bit of cheese and make a quick quesadilla to go with it. Its so so so cold that this is what is needed. Ohs staying in bed and Ive jsut returned from the dentist  my whole mouth tastes of "dentist" disgusting. I cant really eat much so it will have to be something like a soup in any case.
For tea I might make mexican meatballs with the rest of the mince there are peppers in and onions- we have all we need.
Might do some baking this afternoon- I feel the need to have the oven on to slightly thaw out the kitchen :rotfl::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

I have defrosted some belly pork pieces, so will make casserole; or might keep it till tomorrow and make omlette tonight, with some chips from the freezer. Then the stew/casserole can do double duty and I can have the leftovers for lunch on Monday.Sealed pot challenge no 889: £143.96 saved :j

I've managed to use some veg in the fridge to make a spicy carrot & lentil soup and also a turkey & sweetcorn soup. The recipe for this one also required a bit of Nam Pla sauce & Chilli dipping sauce (see previous posts) so that's a massive 2 tbsp of each used from both of those! I also used some out of date gluten free mix with some very, very out of date mixed fruit to make some scones and having just eaten one, I am very pleased to say that they taste lovely! Tonight going to try some prawns with my bottle of satay dipping sauce.Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0

The mince is definitely not defrosted so we have a pizza base in the BM with a view to makign a pizza with cheddar, passata, mushrooms onions, sweetcorn & chorizo  Theres a bit of B&B pudding left which Im going to demolish later now my tooth is repaired:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Well I just went to eat my Turkey & sweetcorn soup & rather bazzarly it had changed from a soup into a turkey noodle normal meal! I can only assume that it was because the egg noodles that were in it had soaked up all the liquid over the last couple of hours. Anyway, we both eat & thought it was lovely, so might even make it that way again, intentionally! Only problem is, we are now too full for any prawns in satay sauce and as we are having roast chicken for dinner tomorrow, I don't know when we will use them. They are ready cooked prawns which were bought as a whoopsie on their use by date & then sat in the fridge for a day before they were frozen. I suppose I could just taste them on Monday & use them then if they taste ok?Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0
