Thanks for all the great ideas, have now written my meal plan for next week, along with a nice short shopping list!

    Have decided on...

    - Sausage and baked bean casserole with chips
    - Pasta bolognese (also frozen in big tub) with garlic bread
    - Pork chops (done ChocClaire's way if I can manage it) with green beans from the garden
    - Bolognese (beef and pork)
    - Lasagne (from the bolognese)
    - Beef casserole
    - Lamb and lentil curry

Should be a cheap grocery shop this week!

  • Hi all!

I need some inspiration for tonight's dinnner. We've had stir-fry's and oriental style food for the past week, so something else would be good.

In my fridge, feel free to make your suggestions:

    One Carrot
    Mature Cheddar
    8 large Cherry Tomatoes
    Lettuce
    Handful of Mushrooms
    Potatoes, Onion, Garlic
    Chopped Tomatoes
    Yorkshire pud mix
Orange juice (seriously, we were given loads after a party)
    Sausages
    4 eggs
    butter
4 mini corn on the cobettes

    Thanks!!

Toad in the hole with a nice onion gravy?
  • Oooh yummy!!

Do you have any milk with that? You could make a lovely spanish omlette (saute the onions/potato/mushrooms/tomatoes the pour over an egg/butter/milk mix and cook til almost firm, sprinkle with cheddar and serve with a corn/carrot/lettuce salad!)

Or, toad in the hole (sausages and yorkshire pud mix - cook sausages first to 'seal' then pour over yorkie mix and bake, then serve with roasted veg (potatoes/onion/mush/carrots/corn/even tomatoes with garlic and seasoning to flavour, all baek together with a little oil in a medium heat oven for about 30-40 mins)?

If you have any dry pasta, then this has all the makings of a great pasta bake? all the veg (expect lettuce and carrot I would say) gently cooked in garlic, blend the tomatoes together and mix with some seasoning and onion for a sauce, add all together (including pasta), sprinkle with the cheese and bake in the oven for about 25 mins!! You could even add the chopped sausages to that....

    Hmmmmm.... am hungry now......

I'm thinking toad in the hole with the corn on the side, omelette or pastryless quiche with salad and baked potatoes. Or try these potatoes topped with grated cheese and served with grilled sausages and tomatoes with mushrooms tossed in a little butter and garlic.

We have a store cupboard challenge thread where people post what they have in for suggestions on what to do with it, so I'll add your thread to that one later.
