I've just had it with some rice, and it was tasty :D

I would have just popped that chicken in the bin and never thought to use what I did together so I'm quite chuffed :)

Well done  I'll add this to the existing storecupboard challenge thread ;)

    Bit of a triumph--well----I think so :p
I did a diddly brisket joint in the slow cooker with some chunks of carrot, swede & parsnip on Saturday & the meat is sliced up to make sarnies. I put the resultant 'gravy' & veg in a saucepan yesterday on a simmer & mashed up a bit for Pup's dinner--clean plate there :T & have to say it smelled good! Could just imagine a few fluffy dumplings & wodge of taiter to make a stoo for me :p
Also, the chicken carcass was bubbled SIZE=1]in the veggie water from Saturday's dinner[/SIZE & any meat stripped. Literally a little bit of carrot, swede, spud, parsnip & leek later, along with a bit of cornflour & WOW!! WHAT A SOUP!!! Full 2pts too!! Had hoped the offspring would like the taste as much as I do but hey---just means more for me :j
Before finding OS & the wonderful exchange of support, I would have thrown 98% of that stuff away without a second thought.

Hi D&DD :o - erm w-e-e-lll, erm I've sort of taken some stuff out and made things with it and re-organised  - it's looking better, honest ;)!

The chicken carcasses (plus the one off the chicken that was in there) are now simmering away in the slow cooker for more chicken stock. Don't know whether to make soup with it or to just freeze as stock. Probably just leave it as stock and re-freeze - will come in handy for casseroles around Christmas to use up any left-over turkey.

The poor cat will be tormented by the smell of the carcasses all night lol!

oh bless :D mind you it's torture for me too when something's cooking in there..it all smells so lovely!

My boycat is permanently sat by his bowl in the kitchen anyway..he's such a gannet!!

I discovered some cooking bacon frozen solid in one large clump today I plan to do some bacon and leek puddings tomorrow for freezing but wondered if theres something I can do in the slowcooker flavoured with a bit of bacon, any ideas??

Not sure about bacon and leek in the SC - I suppose it would depend on how much bacon and how big your SC is.

Bacon and leeks sounds good to me though - I think I would be looking at one of those potato layer bake dishes (the kind you do in a casserole dish in the oven) and including some cheese in there - mmmmmmm .

ok now I'm sitting here dribbling too :rotfl:

The bacon and leek are fried up with chopped carrots in the pan for mini suet puds which I half steam then freeze, this'll probably only use half the bacon so I'm guessing I'll have the equivalent of about 4 rashers (only its in a lump..) left.

mm what about bacon, leek, potato and cheesey layer bake slowcooker thingy :D that'll use up some of the bits I have knocking about too...until MrT arrives :rotfl:
