I am soooooo glad that you've posted YOUR inventory, Beki - makes mine look like an afternoon snack! - well almost :D.

I've been trying to tidy up the 'odds and sods' of meat in mine - and turning them into HM Ready Meals in the process - and also using up some of the veggies in the meals themselves. It's not exactly getting rid of anything from the freezer, as the results are then frozen and put back in again lol. But at least they're tidier and it gives me the bases for other meals.

Ahhhh, but without OH's job my freezer list would be pretty paltry! ;)

One thing that i'm lacking is meat actually. I think i might get a large 'finest' corn-fed organic chicken from MrT (quite a bit cheaper than their bog standard free-range FYI) and eek it out to do maybe 5 or 6 meals for 4, and freeze them too... although, where exactly in the freezer they'll go i have no idea!!! LOL
  • Hi All, hope you don't mind me posting - this is my first one.
We eat a "freezer tea" at least twice per week. No shopping, just look what's in your freezer/cupboard and make it up!
Some times it's a little odd, but can be quite a balanced meal - at least we get lots of veg, as it's easier, and cheaper to have frozen veg than buy fresh.

    Would recommend to anyone!

This made me smile. As I took the kids to see The Incredibles and in the film they all had a left over night. My kids thought it was great and used to ask every night when's left over night?:rotfl:

Well I was getting there, until I went to Costco and I now have extra roasting meat for the freezer and extra tomatoes and sweetcorn for the cupboards. It looks like my Decmber GC budget is blown already  up to £190 out of £250 . At least January and February should look good

We all fancied takeaway last night after Christmas shopping so went to Iceland and bought 3 Indian Mains for £5, cooked own rice and samosas from freezer and it was lovely. Okay not quite HM or takeaway flavour, but it did the trick for about £17 less than ordering.

    Best wishes to everyone

May I join you please? :)

I've just done a inventory of my freezer, store cupboard and fridge and found a few bits I didn't know existed!

Here it is and I will try and get it down over the next few weeks, especially as I went quite a bit over budget on my first GC month. I hope you don't mind me asking some questions (in red)? This is actually a lot harder than it looks! Or I'm just a bit simple... :D

    Freezer

5 x pork and beef sausages These are gristly and, well, horrible - is there any way of disguising that?

    16 x skinless sausages
Bag quorn chicken style pieces Tesco delivered these by mistake - has anyone had them and if so, what did you do with them?

    6 x turkey drummers

6 x brambly apple quorn burgers I assume these are another Tesco error - I've never seen them before but they were at the bottom and look like they have been there a while! Has anyone tried them?

    8 x individual veg pies
    Approx 600g minced beef
6 x findus crispy pancakes (chicken and bacon flavour)

    2 x mini sausage rolls
    4 x mini sausages bundles
    1 x turkey slice

Left over chilli con carne (enough for one)
    400g mild cheddar
    Garlic bulb
    3 parsnips
    Bag new potatoes
    Onion

    26 eggs
7 x turkey slices (use by tomorrow)
    1 ½ tubs sunflower spread
    Yogurts

    Store Cupboard

    Porridge Oat
    2 boxes Ice cream cones

    1 x condensed chicken soup

    Big tin marrowfat peas
    Small tin new potatoes
    Small tin kidney beans

    White rice (long grain)
    Arborio rice
    Wholemeal spaghetti
    500g lasagne sheets

    Icing sugar
    Baking powder (little bit)
    3 kg granulated Sugar
    Ground ginger

    Extract of vanilla
    Almond flavouring
    ½ tub 100 and 1000s
    Custard powder
3 x sachets yeast (BB September 2007) Will these be ok?

2 x sachets vegetable cup a soup (These were lurking at the back and won't survive the week now they have been discovered!)

Filter coffee (Will get the coffee machine out to use these up)

    Other

    3 x apples
4 x ripe bananas (I will have a search of the recipes to see what I can do with these that's different from the BM banana bread we usually make with them - recommendations very welcome!)

Now for the tough bit - trying to work out what to do with it all! I will have a go and report back but any ideas will be gratefully recieved! I will be doing a shop tomorrow and don't want to buy more than I have to!

ETA: I have two casserole meals in the SC and one in the oven. Plus a saucepan of vegetable soup cooling!

Could you make something tomorrow using these up and then freeze them as individual meals?

Not sure as I've never done HM pizzas - but as they are a dried mix

Don't know anything at all about cooking with yeast - but I'm sure that somebody else will be able to tell you.

This is something that I'm always trying to find too - hopefully somebody else will have an answer lol! My last Banana Loaf was horrible - tried a recipe using wholemeal flour and hated it :(!

Good Luck, bestpud - hopefully somebody will have an answer for both of us where the bananas are concerned :D.
