Right i see, yeah dont blame you to be honest..
I think credit cards take the p!ss when they give out them sort of limits..
Aint your capital one card at the higher end of the capital one range..
Apparently so but I don't think anyone can consider it higher end if they're handing out limits like that. I've cut their card up so I'm down to 6 now.
Going to pop to the bank today and close some savings accounts I no longer need. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I was in NatWest today speaking to the supervisor who was closing one of my accounts. She started telling me about the student account and the benefits and I told her I wouldn't be accepted because I had too many searches at present. She said NatWest disregard any searches made after 3-4 months. I asked her if she was sure about this because I have roughly about 15 within the year and she said yes, they only look at the recent searches made. We’ve had to remove your signature. Hi everyone,
Has anyone applied to First Direct?
I want to apply but I am scared they might turn me down due to too many searches on my file.
Wthin the last 6 months I've had 6 searches with EX and 2 searches with EQ. I do love my new Coventry First but lack of Faster Payments is really affecting me.
I do have about 6 new accounts opened within last 3 months. Maybe they wont like that. I dont have any adverse but I suppose too many searches is classed as adverse isn't it?
Cheers.
Hi,
TheEffect had over 50 searches and less than 1 years credit history when 1st Direct accepted him.

Fu*king bollo*cks to HSBC!! After been successful in getting a HSBC credit card at long last on Friday, I called them to get my credit limit amended to £1k but was told that i cannot do anything other than wait for 3 months before making such request.
Do i have any chance of getting them to agree to my request or would they say no cos its HSBC's policy? I might as well throw the card in the dustbin!0 -

Noah, dont panic! As we previously said you do not need high limit at the moment. I think after 3 months you can see your maximum limit when selecting "credit limit increase" via online banking. I am not 100% sure but am sure someone can confirm?
Noah have you requested an overdraft?Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500

Will be the same as Debenhams etc, if you credit file is ok you will be accepted, it is not particularly hard as it is a store card with a high APR.Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500

Never seen Darcy, sammy, woody or skyrider for ages, not sure if they still some on anymore.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? Natwest are just pretty easy to get I think... hence most of my uni being on Natwest student accounts! My friend was asking me about credit cards and overdrafts (she saw the stack of letters/statements etc I have scattered about on my desk) and (she's short of money, can't go to parents or family, will get paid by the time a statement comes through etc - I want to do finance and have read some horror stories on here, I would never push anyone towards credit cards without telling them to repay in full!!) I said go for Natwest (she's an existing customer) and apply for student account then apply for the credit card, but she wont get railcard etc at this time of year.... she did it and got accepted for both, only £350 limit like me though
She actually decided to use the overdraft in the end, because she wasn't 100% certain she'd be able to pay the credit card back by the statement date, so I said just use the overdraft and make sure you pay it off as soon as you get the money back, then remove it from your account if you don't want to be tempted again0
