This weekend gone i stayed in the Premier Inn in Livingston (scotland).....Car parking, the lift (it was funny it had a scottish accent). .

Scottish accents are fairly common in this area. I find it odd that you expect anything else. If you were in New York would you expect an American accent.
  • I complained on my first stay at Bournemouth Central. It was a lovely hotel however my children were woken by people in the next room having some "loving time" a couple of times during the night. I did call down to the reception at 2am and it stopped then briefly started again, then stopped and then again. Seriously considered knocking the door and asking them to put some effort into it, satisfy their appetites and go to sleep. Refund received. Would stay there again though because the room and en suite was amazing.

i've had my money back a few times - never by complaining

once the cleaner came into the room minutes before we were checking out - i thought it funny and mentioned on check out how they were obviously keen to get it cleaned, and she apologised and said we wouldn't have to pay as we were disturbed - was really surprised

at a holiday inn i had a cleaner actually break the internal lock to get into the room (i was asleep and didn't hear her knocking) she forced the door so hard the internal catch broke, she saw me and walked back out - not a word. I mentioned this at check out and when i got a shrug, complained formally - they said they'd look into it but didn't seem to care

that's why i don't stay at holiday inn's anymore and regularly stay at premier inns!
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

I think they meant the lift. You dont generally find the accent in a lift to be regionalised in the uk...(I lived in Scotland for 16 years and never set foot in a lift with a scottish accent!)

I'm just back from a 2 night stay in Premier Inn, I didn't know of this money back thing until they sent me a survey when I got back.

When we got into the room the first thing we noticed was a smell of urine, We checked about the toilet etc was clean, it was a family room so unless a child previous pee'd on the carpet or something, but we stuck it out. Our family room was at the back of the building be side a motorway, we heard cars all night long, the room was also lit up by a massive "PREMIER INN" sign right outside our window. Not really impressed at all by Premier Inn and will not be back. Is it worth complaining?

I was refused a refund after being kept awake most of the night by a really loud air conditioning system, the receptionist said I should have come down in the night and asked about it, I pointed out I was on my own in the room with two small children who I couldn't leave!

Never got a response to my email through the website either.

Dp was staying at a different one recently with one of our children for a birthday trip, woken at 2am by a fire alarm which happily was a false alarm but he was so concerned about the lack of roll call etc (he is a trained fire officer for his workplace) that he struggled to sleep again afterwards, was told "it's health and safety" (oh the irony..) at reception the next day, again no response to email.

We will be using Holiday Inn from now on.
  • I stayed at the premier inn last night and was woken up to the fire alarm going off at 3.30am. We were outside for at least 30 minutes. Do you think I'm entitled to a refund??

You can always ask but really, it's not their fault, and seeing it's a health and safety matter... I think you should let it go and be grateful you're still alive and well. what if it was a fire and the hotel burnt down?
