Yes you cover them with heat sealed rubber.

  • They should be ok with an oil based paint. Look at your outside woodwork.

Thanks, but people don't walk on my outside woodwork and scuff and scratch it like they would with painted floorboards.

  • when we moved 9 years ago we did'nt have money spare for carpet in bedrooms so my daughter had sheets of plywood put down on the floorboards which I then painted lilac. I then got some clear paint with glittery bits in and whopped that over the top, the floor was fab ....still is.... and daughter was delighted with the sparkle.:T

Just make sure you fill all those gaps, I had visions thier like the other poster has said kitchen lights underneath a drop of water a house full of darkness as best ... deadly at worst.

You could lay a few sheets of thin ply wood over the floor boards and paint that its probably more parctical and also easier to fill 4 or so gaps instead of 40 ? easy to remove as well if you change your mind.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

It's all a matter of personal opinion, and mine is just as valid as yours Mr Minton.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I used international floor paint in my living room and looks great, but now I am bored of it, however used in my bedroom and looks rubbish, might be because I went for almost white in the bedroom, I am now looking to putting a carpet down or a oak flooring, probably the first option as money is tight, all down to personal preference.
