My local independent MOT station does the same and it's very useful.
:T
I still think that we should have to display Tax, MOT and insurance details on the vehicles windscreen though! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Believe me driving without an MOT is illegal if it wasn't:
1. The police couldn't issue you with a fixed penalty.
2. Every one would be driving un MOT'd cars.
I am shocked at the lack of knowledge shown by people in this post.
And would strongly recommend anyone reading this post dismiss such foolish comments.

Seems you made a mistake, take responsiblity, sort it out!
GL, sounds like it wont be the end of the world.Debt: a bloomin big mortgage

My "local" Nationwide Autocentre sent me out a reminder - how nice. Pity the reminder was for my old cars MOT. lol.
You made a mistake, NO MOT, No insurance. You'll learn from it0 -

Since you're a fairly respectable member of society and actually had tax and insurance and had a valid MoT until not long before the accident, I'd guess the police will throw the book at you. Maybe you could quickly go on the dole and knock up a couple of teenage chavettes, then they won't even bother pursuing it... too much hassle when they could be harassing people who are law-abiding but forgetful.0

is it possible to get one done now or is the car not suitable? If so take that with you to the police as it will be the current valid one. They don't need to know when the previous one expired. I understand we will soon be receiving reminders for MOT which will be good. I thought mine had expired once, paniced and got a knew one done, found the old one and realised I'd just had it done a month too soon.......0

with the new computerised ones you get a sticker for your windscreen that has the expiry date on. but it's not a difficult thing to remember, I use my outlook for all my company fleet. just put the date in and a reminder for a week before.

I've had two computerised MOT's and didn't get a sticker with either!

Actually this is rarely the case unless specifically mentioned on the Policy Wording Document. Popular urban myth.
Whilst using a motor vehicle without a valid MOT is certainly an offence that can attrach a penalty via a Magistrate, your car insurance should still be valid.
