  • I've noticed lots of things only come in the original wrapper, even Dell laptops are not anonymised.

had a Dell laptop delivered today as well....not even the big boxes they used to use...the box was just bigger than the laptop and about 4 to 5 inches deep....had a lovely picture of the Dell on it as well

I've never had any problems with Amazon. First class company to do business with I've found. Are you sure the drum kit didn't come from a 3rd party. Amazon do this a lot. They act as a shop front and pass the orders on.

Can I assume that OP does not complain about overpackaging of items? Amazon, unfortunately, do not have a gift-wrapping service.
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
    Now 20% cooler
  • Maybe this has some bearing on why there wasn't a box within a box within a box within a plastic covering within
    etc.

Yes they do. It's at the checkout.

  • At least you can afford to get them such a nice gift, some people can't even afford to feed their kids this Christmas. Be grateful for what you have instead of complaining about something so trivial. Your poor little darlings won't be scarred. Yes, it's annoying, but it's hardly something to dwell over.

Also, if it's something that big, you should have had it delivered to another address so they won't see it.
  • If you want to surprise the kids tell them it is going back.

I can understand your fustration OP , just ignore all the moaners.

What if the kids think it was coming from Santa, the supprise has been spoilt.

Im supprised it didnt have a plastic outer bag, we got a sylvanian item from Amazon and it was just the original packing and a grey plastic outer sleeve so you couldnt see what was inside

Obviously there's nothing that can really be done about the surprise being ruined, but if you email their Customer Services I'm sure you'll get an apology, maybe even a voucher. I've found their Customer Service to be fantastic.

I can understand why it wasn't packaged but it would be nice if there was a message telling you so when you ordered. In future always tick gift or add in the comments that you would like it packaged. I bought these drums a while back but annoyingly can't remember if mine came packaged or not.

If the kids are a bit confused my mother used to tell me that Father Christmas would occasionally send her my presents to wrap when the elves were really busy ;)
