now all there is to know about fitting your baps.

See also the advice centre on the website.

Failing that, M & S for the petite Bourgeois

I think the biggest issue is your fear of public ...ermm...exposure.

Maybe you need to learn to love yourself a bit more? Until then, just get in your mind that you are going for a mammogram or to the docs. Really, the fitter will have seen so many baps that another pair will make no difference.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

C_Mababejive, you may well have a point; I still have a hard time accepting that I now need help to bathe and dress. I've never had a mammogram, and I think I'd shoot myself sooner than go for one. LOL

Oh gawd, I really have to do something about this; having read blue_monkey's info on how a bra should fit......

I had heard about leaning forward to put it on, but I can't do this - best I can manage is to haul the damn things out of the way while Mr LW fastens the bra, then shovel them into the cups. (oh, way TMI).

I think I'll browse Figleaves to see what's available (that I can afford) and try to psych myself up to visit a shop.

Hel, even buying jeans a few weeks back was an ordeal - finding somewhere I could afford that had a large enough fitting room for a wheelchair - luckily, those I could try on myself, so Mr LW just had to lurk by the entrance.LOL

On a related note, I read in yesterdays Stella magazine (comes with the Sunday Telegraph) a professional in the industry is saying that bras should last you 6 months, or if you look after them, a year. LOL I've had the ones I'm using for AT LEAST four, probably five years!!

Lamewolf, I have bras that are 3 years old and they are just about coming to the end of their life but they are handwashed and dried in the airing cupboard. Good bras are an investment, if intially rather expensive (get them in the sale they'll be half price). But if you look after them and your size does not change they should last well. If you buy cheap supermarket bras you can probably expect to get 2-6 months out of them at the most. Once they are out of shape or the elastic on the band has stretched they will no longer fit properly and will need replacing. I have only just got rid of some of my bras that I bought in December 2006.

You can get decent branded bras in the sale for around 50% the RRP so you'll get the same life for less money, it will just be that they are a discontinued line or colour.

Go to a shop with a bra measuring service, explain that you need help from your OH because of your disability. Under DDA they can't refuse - they can ask you to come in at a quieter time, but not refuse just because you need help from your OH
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

Well, we went past Bravissimo in MK the other day - I looked in as Mr LW pushed my wheelchair past, and saw that their fitting rooms are upstairs...... Dunno if they have a lift, and I felt too nervous to go in and ask. Back to square one.......:(

Would Mr LW be brave enough to phone them? And might they not have a downstairs fitting room, just that most of them are upstairs?

The Bravissimo in Nottingham has a lift, so the others probably do too

AW lw hunny, we are going to have to get our heads down and have a good think about how we can get this sorted.

It's been suggested, but perhaps Mr LW can make the phone calls, i am sure he is a brave man, and see who can assist with your requests. :grouphug:
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

Yes, Mr LW does all phone calls for me. If I'd wanted him to, he'd have quite cheerfully gone into the shop on his own and asked - but I had somthing of a panic attack, and just had to get away from there.

I've got as far as looking at Figleaves website; there's some nice stuff there that I think I can afford. The big obstacle is getting measured. I feel sick just thinking about it - the sort of "feel sick" I usually reserve for when I have to visit the doctor.
