What happened to the other insurance policy?
There can only be one in force.
How did you find out about the other policy?
What policy force area do you live in as policies in dealing with stolen vehicles often differ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
He cancelled the other policy (it was his policy and i was a named driver as he had more years no claims). He now has a new policy with a different company.
What policy force? No idea what that is but i live in Edinburgh, is that the same thing?0 -
Sorry I meant to say force policy.
OK so your in Scoltand, makes no difference and theft is theft.
How do you know he's changed insurance?
If the car was in your name and you had the finance, who's name was on the invoice/sales receipt when you bought the car?
When he insured it (you as a named driver) who did he tell the insurance the owner was?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I know he changed it as he told me i could cancel the direct debit for the old one on what was our joint account (now just mine). I was happy to do this as i saw no reason for me paying insurance for a car i didn't have.
Its my name on the sales receipt and i was named as owner on the original insurance.0 -

the policy with both us on is the original policy. I am not named on the new policy but have no idea if he has told them he is the owner. Do they check? I am definitely still the named owner according to the DVLA today.0

No when you were both on the policy, they ask who is the owner, who was stated as being the owner on that policy?

oh sorry i was named as the owner on that policy.
He has the V5 as everything was in the folder to do with the car as i assumed he would need it to sell car, but i have arranged to have a replacement sent from the DVLA.0 -

No, you're the registered keeper, the DVLA does not record ownership.
Chippy meant "police force" earlier, but Chippy confused himself because he corrected it to "force policy"0 -

If he has told the first insurance company you were the ower and his new insurance company he is the owner you may have evidence he has assumed ownership of the vehicle.
Wig I meant force policy and corrected it to force policy. I didn't mean police force. Sois on your part.
