lynz - apply it will be good experience and good to see the reaction you will get. If they offer it to you, things are all up for negotiatian - ie not probationary period, longer notice, a trial run before you give up your current job. Be honest with them, and if they really want you they will work to ensure it is suitable for you.
My sister went for a job not sure if she wanted it, but thinking they wouldn't take her on, she wasn't keen on moving jobs at the time and so asked for a crazy amount thinking they'd turn her down straight away. They didn't and they paid for all her studying that was planning on doing.
What I'm saying is, until they offer it to you, you don't have to decide or negotiate. Once they have offered it to you, then you can start negotiating with them and if they have got that far, then they are more likely to try things to keep you happy.
However, I understand it's your decision, but they may have another job that could be more suitable for you that they can suggest you for etc.
