Worth a pay cut?

Hi all
For many of you know things have been rather tough for me lately.
i have seen a new job with a real MSE twist, and I think Id love it. However, it is a pay cut, to the tune of about 120 a month.
Theres not a great deal left to cut back on ( apart from the cigs ) otherwise I wouldnt really care, but its money I really need at the mo, what with moving/selling/ etc and OH is still temping
What do you reckon, is it worth it?

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I think you should apply whether you go for it in the end or not. If they offer you the job you can take stock then, perhaps ask for an increase in salary, everyone is able to negotiate to some extent or another on starting salaries, particularly if you are coming from a position with more responsibility.
You've nothing to lose by applying for the job, even if the offer it to you and you don't go for it it's a wonderful confidence boost, and really good interview practice.
Hope it all works out for you!Debt Free Nerd No. 89, LBM: April 2006, Debt at highest (Sept 05): £40,939.96

if it'll make you feel happier and you can make ends meet - jump at it! just make sure you are quite clear what you want to do - it would be awful to spend the next 6 months regretting whatever decision you make.:happyhear0

is it a job you could do overtime with to make up the money or is it just basic hours if you think the job would make you happy go for it if not stay put reading through some of your thread you are going to be debt free soon when you sell your flat so the pay cut may not be noticed when you have no debt and you always have the logers income to fall back on so if its just the money go for itdebt free:beer:0

but im not sure I can make ends meet without this £120

I guess I could apply and go for a salary match. Im so british about negotiating salary

I agree with molanole.
go for it, see if you can negotiate a bit of a higher salary if they offer you it, and you may be able to come up with some new radical plan to improve the money situation even further in the meantime. Or even win a cash competition!! (Wouldn't that be great..!)
You gotta quit the ciggies though if you take the financial hit, you'd be crazy to carry on puffing away love.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

I know I know I need to stop smoking. I will, in fact I want to but I just cant do it with OH puffing away, I have tried but it was impossible.
Im definatley going to apply for it.
theres no overtime, so maybe I could get a second job if I have to. Not that my health will take it but you know what I mean, maybe I could get on with this babysitting I keep threatening to do!
Now who here works in HR and wouldnt mind looking over my application when its done?
@Emmzi- a 60% paycut is massive! Amazing you can manage it :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
