Go for the job, as everyone has said once you get offered it then you can really sit down and look at things, personally i think happiness is worth a great deal and if this job, even with a paycut, will make you happier than your present job then it is worth it, somehow the extra money will get made up.
I think you should just ask for a pay increase after all the worse they can say is no. My OH is about to ask for a payrise, he is under a contract and when he signed it last year it stated there would be no possibility of an increase until the contract was up for renewal, mainly because he is on the highest pay they offer his position. However he has decided to just go for it and ask as he has nothing to lose by doing so, it also turns out he may have a bargaining tool as they have been asking him to take on some extra responsibilties and he has decided to say he will do so if they increase his pay.

Im just a bit worried about the amount of sick leave Ive had actually.
I dont think I'll bother, I might have to take more time off sick too later on, so I guess now just isnt the right time....
Sorry, lets forget it, and throw support behind Emmzi

To me job satisfaction, actually I don't like that saying. You should be more than "satisfied" in a job. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that "job satisfaction" is more important than money!
However (oooh a twist
) as long as you can afford to live/maintain whatever lifestyle you want then I'd go for a job I was happy in rather than earn more for something I wasn't happy in!
Does that make sense to anyone else coz I've lost myself?

Oh dear....I feel like a deflated balloon now so how do YOU feel lynz?

I can see where you are coming from with that rationale though. But it might still be worth applying with full details of your situation....just so you know you did try?
But if you decide not to, that is understandable. Maybe if times are going to be tough, you will need the consitency and support of the company that know you well.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
