  • Firstly let me assure you it’s not ridiculous for a grown man to break down and cry, I hope you felt better afterwards.

I don’t think there is any easy way of dealing with debt, I trust you’ve obtained some financial guidance and they have suggested that bankruptcy is the best option for you. I’m sure that once you have dealt with the legal procedure, it’ll be a big relief for you to put some closure on the matter.

Try to think positive it’s a fresh start for you. Hope things get better for you soon, with happier times in the near future

    Good Luck. x ;)

Hi and welcome Korben. One step at a time and like you say it could work out better one of you going BR before the other as it gives you time to open new bank accounts etc. Please post your SOA on here for guidance before you submit it and read and read through other posts so you get as much information as you can. The not knowing what will happen is the scary bit, if you know in advance it takes away the fear!

  • Wow, the support on here is unbelievable, thank you so much! It's reassuring to know there are others who have been through this and come out the other side.

The worst thing is the feeling so alone in the problems, not any more though!

Hi korben, welcome to the forum.

You have in fact got over the worst of it all.......by finally making the [positive] decision on which way to turn.

the form-filling is a pain..but don't worry if something is left off, or forgotten.....the system is flexible enough to cope.

Neither will you be left struggling to make ends meet......those days ended once you decided to go BR....so..stop paying creditors, just keep paying the essential bills [CT, Water, leccy]....which ought to be more affordable now?

The OR will be fighting your corner..as are the Courts, your Debt advisors, and all of us on here.

I found that the above was a huge relief..because whilst in insurmountable debt, I felt the creditors were doing their level best to keep me isolated.

There is no failure.......just another path to follow.

[the failure is largely on the creditors' shoulders...their loss, for being so greedy........their loss, for spoiling the ship for a ha'penn'orth of tar....certainly not YOUR failure, for not playing the game by their rules!]

Those tears can really be viewed as tears of relief......??

[oh...and get your wages paid inot the new account....and open another one, for fixed bills, DD's etc...so you can transfer the fixed total into it, not worrying about accidentally touching it....what's left in the first account is for spending, saving what's left over, etc...??]
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

Great idea, does anyone know if it is possible to open 2 Coop Casminder accounts? already have one open now, but everything is going in and out of it.

Yes you can open 2 accounts but I would wait until after BR before opening the second account.

To be fair [to co-op] I had both accounts up'nrunnin' before bR...well before BR.

I did explain to the IS lady, on that first phone call [at the court] what they were for...she aggreed it was agood idea, and wouldn't be affected by the BR at all......I think, it isn't the number of accounts one has, but the total amount of money in them......checking back on my bank records, I had about 150 in one, and 30 in the other [DD] account...at the time of BR...with nowt but insurances to pay, petrol for me car and food for me belly...{and No.1 son's}...all other dome-stick bills having been paid beforehand...not by chance, either.

    Both accounts must be basic [ie cashminder, or whatever Barclays cll theirs?}

Th problem is we have had some OR's say that the bankrupt can't have 2 accounts. On of the inconsistencies of BR again . I just feel to be on the safe side it would be best to wait.
