I recently pre-ordered a PS3 game (Call of Duty - Modern Warefare 2) with tesco entertainment @ £44.96 (the going rate for pre-order). You can imagine my disgust when, as the release date passed, this game was reduced to £32.00. I contacted them by email through the entertainment site last Thursday (12 Nov 09) which states that I should be contacted regarding a reply within 24 hours - A WEEK LATER AND STILL NO REPLY !!!! My teenage son purchased this game with hard earned money and he has been ripped off by Tesco - and they want our business for Christmas - I don't think so! I am appalled at their customer service.

You/your son (is he over 18, btw?) made the choice to pre-order at that price - you wouldn't be moaning if the price had gone UP, would you? You have NOT been ripped off - Anyway, it's easy to get another and get a refund on the original receipt, then you will be quids in, so STOP WHINGING!
    I love a nice juicy "kebab"... ;)

I pre-ordered the JLS cd for my daughter, 10 days after apparent dispatch still hasn't received it, 1 week after emailing their customer service still no contact, so 17 days since they sent it to me, nothing!!!

Thanx. Sainsburys are selling them for £26.00 but are out of stock. There was no shopping around to be done before release date as everywhere had the same price. I'm very disappointed in Tesco.

As Woodys said they do have a price promise, check you card statement and see what you've been charged. If you've been charged more than £32 (which was the price on the day it was released) ring them, ask for partial refund and also to cover the cost of ringing as they ignore your emails. HTH

that happened to me, i bought the madonna album first day of realease it was £12 i think next day it went to £7 , i took it back, it was unopened, but they wouldnt refund me the diffrence. i thought that was bad C/S, i know they dont have to , but you think the first day release is normally the cheaper day, then it goes up, seems tesco are the other way round.
    it pays to shop around.
at the end of it i was happy to pay what was advertised, but just thought it was a bit naughty of them

the rrp of cadmw2 is 54.99 so you saved a tenner. no-where actually sells it for 54.99 but thats the official price. this is why you dont pre-order games, dont you know asda always to a discount on day of release, followed by gamestation's deal of the week a short time later.
i paid 26 in morrisons of all places!

I e-mailed Tesco entertainent over a week ago. I tried to use my Maestro (debit) card to make a payment but it wouldn't accept it without an issue number, which the card doesn't have. I got an automated response almost straight away, to say that they'd deal with my e-mail within 24 hours. I've still not heard back from them.

It is understandably annoying but just one of those things really. Tesco don't have to honour the new price. When this has happened to me if I haven't yet used the product I will return it and buy another one at the new, cheaper price. If I have used it, I learn from it. The way I see it, if your son was willing to pay the £45 price he must have thought it was worth it, and it's better to have preordered than lose out if the game went out of stock.

Amazon are good for refunding you. I pre-ordered Snow White. A few days after getting it I got £1.01 back because they'd lowered the price since i'd bought it. I didn't even have to ask for it.

Hi folks, I'm a happy bunny today! Tesco phoned me this morning to say that they have the price promise and that I will receive a refund on the difference. They said I should have received an email to this effect.............No!!!!!! I wonder if they saw this site 'cos they didn't seem to take much notice of their own. BTW My son is 15 years old to the unhelpful comments. I appreciate your comments. Thanx
