Tesco entertainment beware !!!!

I recently pre-ordered a PS3 game (Call of Duty - Modern Warefare 2) with tesco entertainment @ £44.96 (the going rate for pre-order). You can imagine my disgust when, as the release date passed, this game was reduced to £32.00. I contacted them by email through the entertainment site last Thursday (12 Nov 09) which states that I should be contacted regarding a reply within 24 hours - A WEEK LATER AND STILL NO REPLY !!!! My teenage son purchased this game with hard earned money and he has been ripped off by Tesco - and they want our business for Christmas - I don't think so! I am appalled at their customer service.

what stopped you sending the item back unused ad then repurchasing at the new price .. if you order online distance selling rules come into play

The game arrived about 4 days before the release date - probably due to postage issues - and was quickly unwrapped and played on delivery.

Thanx. Sainsburys are selling them for £26.00 but are out of stock. There was no shopping around to be done before release date as everywhere had the same price. I'm very disappointed in Tesco.
  • Well either wait till Sains get them back in or get the next cheapest one elsewhere and return to T's!! I am not sure if you can just return it to a store or if it has to go back to Tesco entertainment?

The money is better in your pocket.

Very rude of them not to reply by the way.

  • I have noticed when I have ordered a dvd on the pre release that they now have a price promise on pre order which says
"Pre-Order this item and we'll charge you the lowest of your ordered price and the price on the day of release."
I don't know if this is a new thing but I would email or ring Tesco again & have another go at them.

You pre ordered and got the game 4 days before release so your son's has had 4 extra days of play than those who bought it for the lower price.

And you would be committing fraud.

Just put it down to experience, JAB94, and think about how you will buy something next time. And don't forget, you paid a price you were willing to pay at the time. Often 'big ticket' items like this will be sold as loss leaders in the first week of release. I never pre-order any more.
