it's a game that we've started to play in the shop, I work 1-9 on a Saturday, both of us are late 30s and mature students, and it truly does not matter that kind of chocolate we put next to the till, we can clear the box if it's a big lottery pay-out - it's like people's heart's get pumping when they fill in the slip. Whispa Golds are a good one, but any kind of chocolate bar and the box is gone by 7.30!
  • bet on football correct scores if you like football, i started out on betfair with £50 and turned it into about £1400 in 3 months, however i got bored and started betting on horses etc which i knew nothing about and ended up losing most of it with stupid betting, i think to be honest if any of us knew how to make a million we wouldn't be on here sharing r secrets ;) i often dream of what i'd do if i had that, though again to be honest i would be greedy i'd want £2 million as i don#t think £1 would be enough :D i think as someone earlier suggested try and find yourself a rich woman as the lotto etc will most likely never happen,

    thanks everyone.

i personally dont get the lottery, my partner does and im forever telling him that its a mugs game, but then he says (correctly) 'oh but you wouldnt turn it down if I won'

so it gets me thinking about whether i should!!

yes, i know 5% is optimistic at the moment, but i think there were some imcome bonds i saw somewhere whilst perusing things, which had 5%, but you're right, i would have to ensure that i still saved properly to maintain the inflation thing.

so you reckon the irish lottery is a good bet??

You have more chance of being hit by lightening that winning the lottery ;)

So my idea is to wait until the next thunderstorm, go outside, wait to be hit by lighning and if i get hit and survive take that as a sign to buy a lottery ticket. And if i don't survive i've saved myself a quid..very MSE :money:

  • What I don't understand is people who only play Euromillions when it's a huuuge amount......what, cuz £2m isn't enough, they want £96m.....

I got 5 numbers once, the 1st 5......the time between the 5th & 6th balls felt like an eternity, I nearly crashed the car (was driving!)

So, maybe the best way to get rich off the lottery is to install choc vending machines next to lottery sales points..;)

    I would give up work.
OH would obviously continue to work(!)

please PLEASE tell me your joking

our imaginary million is easy to spend
pay all debts and give money to all the people who helped us out when we had nothing (ie - now lol)
would buy a lovely farmhouse with a bit of land, enough room for chooks, goats, geese, ducks, a couple of dogs etc and a nice big veg patch

would holiday in New York, then on some hot beach somewhere
    shop, shop, SHOP!
maybe start the business we always fancied doing,

and live happily ever after with no stress

Lol at this thread..ok firstly my logic into it is..how many people who have won a good amount sat there and thought what a waste of money etc..or had friends/family who thought the same..then they got a ticket and won..bet they are pleased they did now?..there is a very low chance of you winning but you will never win if you dont buy a ticket.
    Right onto spending it!!
I would work for free for a month to help the parents out..dh would just walk lol!!
I would buy this house as our first house and love it..rent it out i guess.
Buy family and friends houses or pay off mortgages..
Buy a huge converted barn with lots of land and build a cattery for me and dd to run so we didnt get bored!..
Buy an Audi TT for me and sis! then go on a cruise for a month to decide what to do with the rest!

I spend too much time fantasising about winning a million pounds.

I already have mapped out what I would do with it. Im not into cars, big holidays etc.

So,,, its is the lottery, premium bonds, or what??

well it's easy, you just switch your £20m that you've got in your current account and put it into a savings account earning 5% p.a.
    :D
