even if you did win, your figures are way off. 5% income is very optimistic right now, and you need to reinvest at least as much as inflation to prevent your capital being devalues. In 10-15 years your £25k a year will have the buying power of around £15k now. Could you still live on that?0

lol! If it were me I'd still give it a go.
I didn't realise people fantasized about such sensible things- with my million i've paid off mortgage and then spent the rest on holidays, gifts, clothes... In reality it doesn't matter how far I stretch my imaginary £1 million- after all, it doesn't exist!0 -

it is amazing how many people are fanatical about the lottery - I work in a small shop and the lottery machine was down for a while this afternoon - people were freaking out - and I mean really going weird - because they weren't able to do the lottery. I don't do it now because it just totally depresses me how people think that if they win they will suddenly become happy and all their problems will disappear. maybe seeing how much money people actually spend on it has made me really cynical about it!0

Yeah I used to work in a small shop too it's terrible all these people think they're going to win! My girlfriends dad always spends £20+ on euromillions tickets when they have those big rollovers I tried to tell him the chance of winning even if he spent £100 a week is next to nothing and he just ignored me!
Having said that when I worked in the shop I did have one family come in with a winning ticket they asked me to check! They'd won £2m ish which is nice for them of course. I was hoping they'd tip me a grand or two but no such luck lol.0 -
Oh did you get the thing that prints out saying "contact Camelot" for that family? Our machine was playing up so badly today, it was taking sometime a minute to process a ticket, and people were literally standing there saying "I have to have this lottery ticket on tonight". Scary, the way that people obsess about it so much.
In the shop when it's a rollover we do this weird psychology thing (some of us are students) whereby we put a box of chocolate or something next to the tills............ we have proved time and time again the higher the jackpot, the more people will impulse buy the chocolate - it's like their heart starts racing or something when they get the ticket and they think they might win a lot of money.
I need to get out more!0 -

Yeah it came up saying 'DO NOT PAY' lol.
Interesting about the chocolate, I do wonder why people are so frantic when its a high jackpot, if its £2m or £20m it makes no difference to me its a huge amount of money - are they not really bothered about not winning £2m then?0
