I was on anti-psychotics ages ago. The recently for what a week. Freaked out as thought the shrink was truing to control me.

i've had to phone NHS 24 recently as voices were telling me to harm my partner. A hate it!!! Scares me.

Yet I'm the bad one when police arrive, why did I phone etc etc.....

But if you are intelligent and you have psychotic symptoms and get sectioned etc. maybe you really should be on anti-psychotics? Maybe just not had the right ones? I agree entirely with soupface.

Bryando, from what you have said, sorry, but you are not going to be able to work simple as that!
You suffer from psychosis which puts yourself and others in danger. You say you hear voices and you express what the voices tell you.
You say you are not on any anti-psychotic medication, why I can't exactly work out from what you have said.
Maybe you have had bad experiences with psychiatry or I would say you've had a rubbish psychiatrist but you say you've had eight.
There is no advice anyone can give you regarding obtaining work until your psychiatric problems are managed if that is possible.
But if you are highly intelligent you will know that already.
Sound like maybe you need some support when dealing with the medical profession, an advocate perhaps?
There's loads of other sections on MSE, maybe you are just needing to talk about your situation, maybe someone has had similar experiences and can help?

Being in my early 20s the thought of not working again is well, owrds can't explain.
The voices are not dangerous 24/7. However who knows when they turn, thats the bit that worries me and working.

Bryando, Plenty of people are able to carry on doing all sorts of things but need to have prescribed medication in order to address imbalances. It is nothing to do with intelligence or will power as others have said. I suggest you accept help so that
emerengency detentions under mental health act
don't happen any more. If you don't want to do this for yourself, you should do it for your partner

Really? Psychosis not covered by the DDA? I would think what you have described is quite disabling. Hmmm.....

Being violent is not as classed as a disability.

If I was working i would need to go when required should things go down hill for myself. In terms voices start.

Does my mental health effect me daily, yes more so that other days. so on that basis I think I'm covered by the DDA?

When I say express I mean verbal.

The problem with refusing to accept psych support because you find it disempowering is you will inevitably continue being taken into hospital under the mental health act.

That is distressing for you and your partner, as well as posing a risk to you both, and all others involved in helping you at that time.

This also leaves you in a vulnerable position and can make the services feel like the enemy.

It doesn't have to be like that, but the only person who can change it is you!

Emergency situations don't help as any meds given are a sort term measure and meds of this kind need to be taken over a while so you can work with your doctor to get the right dosage for you.

If you are serious about wanting to have a life and work etc then you need to start taking responsibility for your illness and work with the psych services, not against them! They are there to help!

You may never be able to work, I don't know, but you sure as hell are not helping increase your chances by sitting around waiting for the next crisis.

Sorry if that isn't what you want to hear. I am speaking from experience and can honestly say you will be better off if you can take responsibility for managing your illness - repeated emergency admissions achieve nothing - you have to stay one step ahead of yourself and work on prevention rather than cure.

If your MH causes physical violence (as mentioned in my previous post) you're not covered.
