It may still be worth apply for somewhere like CAB to do voluntary work - although a CRB check is done, they may still allow you to work there, dependent on the convictions and the circumstanes surrounding them. It would also be at the manager's discretion too. So, don't rule them out completely - it may be worth speaking to your local CAB to see what thier policy is on this.0

I was on anti-psychotics ages ago. The recently for what a week. Freaked out as thought the shrink was truing to control me.
i've had to phone NHS 24 recently as voices were telling me to harm my partner. A hate it!!! Scares me.
Yet I'm the bad one when police arrive, why did I phone etc etc.....0 -
Think my life is resigned to fact I aint employable, therefore starting to throw doubt on why do a law degree.0

You might think of yourself as unemployable but you can still make a contribution to society and the suggestion to do voluntary work is a good one. Have you heard of advocacy? Your background is ideal and helping others can be satisfying and lead to all sorts of opportunities you wouldn't have been aware of otherwise.
There is a huge demand for advocates especially in mental health. The work is very varied and supported and there is very little pressure on volunteers (or so I have found)One life.0 -

Firstly you ARE employable, you are obviously very intelligent and have a will to work.
If you were in the army have you contacted Combat Stress? They may be able to help you with a care plan and relevant medication. Sometimes it just helps knowing that the person who is prescribing it has been there and seen it
You could try the CAB or one of the advocacy charities, under the disibilitiies act you have a recognised disability and so they have to take account of that. Your offences are linked to your disibility and you do not have to disclose those offences until you are offered a training post.
Have you thought about volunteering for the RBL? They have case workers who go out to ex forces all over and help assess them for grants etc. They do a lot of advocacy and signposting to other agencies which would help you build up a good basis for a paid role later.
Take care

Hi.
Yeah had a guy out from Combat Stress. They don't have the facilities to help me. I mustbe bad. I assume due to voices, who knows. was a bit hacked off!
What is the RBL?
I was told Idon't have a disability under the DDA act. I've sat and went through nearly the full thing and well .................. My mental health varies and does effect me when I am bad. However a CPN says that I don't.
It's embarrassing to say the least regarding my convictions. 3 Breaches all within 3 years. Always held the high ulmighty on convictions then find myself with them for jumping off things etc.0 -

Hi.
I would have thought three convictions and no doubt on the Vulnerable persons database. I would be barred from working with vulnerable people. due to history with voices and what I've expressed. That is a hard one to explain to a person.0 -

We have supported volunteers who do not work directly with clients. One life.0 -

Really? Psychosis not covered by the DDA? I would think what you have described is quite disabling. Hmmm....."All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
