Yes i agree it must be something to do with our setup, but surely as it was working fine for ALL of us before MSE changed something, they can sort it out???
I think the majority of us are using works computers and there is only so much fiddling around we can actually do with them.
Yes I agree that the forum techies should have investigated this and come up with a definitive solution by now, as it does seem to have happened since the forum was upgraded.

Because I have NO other problems on any other websites either at home or at work, logic tells me that it isn't a problem with my set-up - more that there is something in my set-up that MSE doesn't like. It's disappointing that the problem hasn't been addressed seriously by the webmaster.0 -

Agreed there does seem to be a problem but I would like to know just how many people are affected by this.
The transition from the old version of vBulletin to the new version made no difference to me here but there are obviously some subtle changes.
I can only assume that it affects a relatively small number of users at home and those affected while surfing at work may have various features like java-script disabled by their employers.
Perhaps you should start a poll. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hello all,
I appologise in the delay in fixing this however, it is very difficult to debug an issue that I cant mimic in the office or on any of my other machines. We have also been spending a large portion of time fixing the site so that on busy days it still remains speedy - and hopefully the majority will agree that during the last few tip days (busy days) the site has remained sufficiently fast which is a good milestone for us. Having said that, I am going to set aside some time to fix this issue but will have to find what the "common" factor between all the users who are suffering from this - you will have to appretiate this will take some time because only a very small number of users have reported the issue - in comparison to the thousands of users on the site at most times.
If i could find out initially:
a) what operating systems you are using
b) what browser you are using
c) what firewalls you are using
d) you isp
e) what antivirus package
f) whether you are using any internet "accelerators"
We do endeavor to check all emails, however upon contacting the webmaster email address you should have received an auto-reply which would have informed you about how these emails are addressed. I appologise that you have been having trouble and hopefully we can sort this as quickly as possible.
Thanks

XP SP2 Pro
IE6 mainly; it's ok in Firefox 1.5.0.6 or Opera 9.01
Zone Alarm
Pipex broadband
AntiVir/Avira
Onspeed
There is more discussion on Ken's Forum Display thread, where I've become a bit boring, but it does appear to be connected with proxy/accelerator use.
To summarise what I said there most recently, it can be cured for a while for me by switching Onspeed off, press ctrl-F5, then it's ok, Onspeed back on again, still ok.
I did wonder if there is a temporary transmission of a glitched file that they cache for a while, but now I think this is probably wrong. Perhaps you'd read a bit of what I said on the other thread about the large numbers of duplicated javascript files that are being saved in hidden Temp Internet Files folders, and the errors on page message on the status bar that people are seeing. It's as if the browser is calling the js file, but not identifying it when it arrives, hence several object expected errors per page.
I hope this is vaguely in the right direction to help
