So back to this cheese savoury, how have i never heard of it. Is it a regional specialilty or something ? Sounds really nice. Does it keep once mixed ? So i could make it on Sunday night for Monday & Tuesday sarnies maybe ?

Thank you cheese savoury experts !

    Hi Anastacia,
I only made it for the first time on Wednesday night so not too sure if I did it right (it tasted nice though!). The batch I made on Wednesday night were for Thursday's sandwiches but I made too much and so they went into some of Friday's sandwiches too. We're still alive (at the moment!).

All I did was cover the bowl in clingfilm and keep it in the fridge. I only had cheese, onion and saladcream in mine though, so I'm not sure how carrot would keep. Maybe somebody else could help out?

    Nic

sorry i'm bak after all this time... former greggs girl here! (ive been labelled)... no celerey in the cheese savoury Kazonline but like u sed u did hav it yrs ago... n i can only vouch for the last 5 yrs... we used to mix together like a big packet of grated cheddar cheese (sorry cant remember the quantities), a small packet of chopped onions, a small packet of carrots and loadsa mayo (they like to use tons of mayo in most of their sandwiches which doesnt make em as healthy as u might think)....we used this filling with cold bacon n lettuce in baguettes which was and still is the best selling sandwich, and also with smoked ham in sliced bread which ppl bought for their little uns (whilst tryin to ignore the ''i wanna sausage roll'' screams)...... neva liked chesse savoury myself until i got pregnant lol!

For ppl who hav neva heard of cheese savoury... neither had i until i started workin for greggs

a to singlehouseholders q - i'm gessin it was probly due to some thievin employees... neva worn tabards with pockets myself but i know they did in the past... all i know is we wasnt allowed to wear trousers with pockets either which is y they started providin them too as part of their uniform

i'm sure greggs will b sueing me if they read this!

For anyone else who has never heard of cheese savoury - you are not alone, never heard of it either, but am familiar with the recipe, just call it cheese and onion mayo. As others have said nice with grated carrot and/or thinly sliced celery. Also nice with diced tomato and cucumber...but if you use these, use immediately as it tends to get a bit watery. Try with some grainy mustard mixed in too. If you don't have onions, use chives or spring onions.
For me it has to be mayo, as really don't like the taste of salad cream. Good for sandwich fillings, wraps, baked potatoes, salad and on a toastie - or as a sort of grilled cheese on toast special. Scrummy!

    Evening all.

I'm a Yorkshire lass, and yes, we have it here.

When I make it I use cheddar (grated), cucumber, tomato (cherry ones cut in quarters) onion, and sometimes sweetcorn. I always use Mayo. If I make it on Sunday I make sure I use the last for Wednesday's sarnies, but it doesn't usually last that long..

I love cheese savoury! I make it with grated cheese, chopped onion, celery if i have any and chopped red pepper and mix it all with mayo.

I do the same mix with tuna, but I add cucumber to that, yum!
