Where to buy car servicing bits and bobs?

I need to buy some bits and pieces for a service (oil & filter, gearbox oil, sump washer etc). The only brick & mortar shop I can think of is Halfords, and I'm a bit worried about getting them off the internet as I need them for next Wednesday and everything I've ordered lately seems to be taking ages.

Does anyone have any better ideas than Halfords, or even know of a reliable website or ebay seller who would be likely to get the stuff here quickly?

Thanks in advance ;)

  • euro car parts - they also sell bits for non euro cars, much cheaper

ebay is ok but often you loose out due to postage

Dealers are not often too expensive for filters etc, infact buying the correct oil and filter combo from my dealer was a lot cheaper than halfords and the same price as euro car parts

I always look at supermarkets for oil, they always have special offers on, just buy a stock in advance.

Your local motor factors is always the most likely to be cheapest, pick up the local Thompsons or what have you, there will be more than you think, I can name at least 8 options for me within 5 miles excluding halfords etc:money:

The place the trade uses will have the best stocks, you have probably seen little white vans flirting about like maniacs, but that's another issue;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

  • Cheers guys, I ordered the bits I needed from Euro Car Parts just for handiness (we have the inlaws down tomorrow so not much opportunity to go checking out places before Wednesday) but I'll be ready for the next time and find out what there is locally.

You can get service kits from main dealers. If you look like a hairy mechanic :D you could blag it and ask for trade rates. Sometimes dealer kits aren't much more expensive than motor factors. Then all you need is some oil.

I look absolutely nothing like a hairy mechanic!

edit: Although maybe I could wear a fake beard, wear my husband's overalls (which are absolutely massive on me) and smear myself with grease :D

Don't use Halfrauds! It will cost you a lot more.
Yell car parts near your address, most places can supply same if not next day.

Euro Car Parts is a goodie. Halfords (but only if you have a trade card). There is a seller on EBay, I think it's SDN direct, who is excellent for 4x4 parts...
