HI, we got back from New Zealand just over a week ago. WE had a fantastic time but the journey is not much fun. The boys were really good but are still quite tired. Life has been pretty hectic since we got back. My group has a quilt show on Tomorrow and Saturday in Durham. I've been desperately trying to finish my quilts for it, and this afternoon I'm going to help hang the exhibition. I'm really looking forward to it as I've never had the courage to exhibit any of my quilts before!
DS1 is going to a beaver sleepover on Sat which should be interesting as it's the first time he's slept away from us. He's really looking forward to it, I found him trying out his sleeping bag yesterday. DS2 is his usual mad self, although school keep on telling me how well he's doing.
I've started trying to get Christmas started but I'm not doing very well so far. I think I need to plan a shopping trip to Newcastle or the Metro centre.
Hugs to all that need them0 -

Well the dhal I was making for tea has now morphed into a spicy lentil soup with bits of potato in it for lunch :rotfl: Very OS:money: It was a new recipe that I was following & really didn't like the taste of it so I've bunged some extra stock & chilli powder in it and called it soup. I thankfully decided I didn't like the taste of it before I put 2 chicken breasts in it so they're in the freezer now for another day. We'll have omlettes for tea instead with a grated carrot, chick pea & raisin salad with garlicky dressing on.
Off to make some if Diva's Apricot Scones for after our lunch now0 -
Morning everyone,
Hester - how dreadful for youIt's one thing the kids being horrible, but quite something else for the staff to be so vile. I hope it all works out for you.
Elona - hope your first trip out goes well - do take it easy
mummysaver - ((hug))
Purpleivy - you need to train the mice to take their shoes off at the door
Diva - those scones sound great
Well, I found out how she got my number after chatting to some old collegues at the lecture - she phoned my old place of work - who told her. This is a bit scary given I work in a secure facility (it's mainly because labs are dangerous places and people automatically assume we do animal work (which we don't) so the place is pretty well locked down). I expressed my irritation gently - but they weren't to know. I don't think she will call again. I just don't know what to say - in my head I have so many things I wanted to say, but really shouldn't say - but she really can't expect a discussion without giving me time to prepare and seek appropriate advice. I am entirely unprotected if I strike up dialogue and she has shown unwillingness to reason for the past three years, so I don't think I have much chance in getting any message across even if I did. It'll be about money why she did it personally, I'm sure. My worry is that she is now going to go back to her solicitor and say I was unco-operative because she didn't get the answer she wanted
I have to send things to the insurance company todayI want it all to be over, ideally I want my bike back, but I don't think that's going to happen.
OH has his interview today - he's in right now. He also has my swipe card, so I can't leave the building until he gets back. He's so disoragnised, so I printed his slides and handouts, put everything in a document wallet and infomred him he might want to use deoderant *sigh* Honestly.
I am suppossed to be going to lunch today with some friends from Holland. They are staying with us tonight, so I was frantically cleaning the flat yesterday - it looks a little like a workshop at the moment as every surface is covered with clay and tiny plastic cookies.
I printed out a list of craft shops and fabric stores in Prague - ready for my visit. Last time I went I didn't get the opportunity to shop for this sort of thing - even though they have some wonderful glass beads and jewellery bits on offer. I try to bring materials back from abroad, often it's cheaper, but most of the time they are simply unique - I travel such a lot that it's stupid not to - I have bought back glass beads and jewellery findings from Spain, silk and ribbons from Korea and felt and lace from Germany this year alone. I can imagine how the traders felt bringing back spices and cloth sometimes
I started typing this at 9 am then had a meeting, so I'm sorry if I missed people in the interimhave a good day all, cel x

Everyone is always more than welcome here. Looking forward to reading about your days
Just popped on to thank Diva as the scones were delish. So easy to make too. I used butter as I don't have any lard at the moment and 2 apricot & passionfruit yoghurts which came to 6fl oz exactly. I've also passed the recipe on to my Mum as my Dad is diabetic and these will be lovely for him. Thank you0 -
Hi all,
Bebee - of course you can join us honey and
Molly - I need some eggs right now, can you pop some down to Devon please?
Morwenna - hope you feel better soon hon
Elona - don't you go over doing it now love.. :rotfl:
Nurse who took my blood tried to persuade me to have the flu jab and even the swine jab but I refused politely. My OH was with me with his stinky cold but he isn't offered the flu jab and he is the one who gets it at least once during the winter. Poor thing.
I have sucessfully de-cluttered some scones and butter which has made the kitchen MUCH tidier. Now I might actually have to do some work once the news has finished.
Not sure if I want Tony Blair to be President of Europe personally...
Incredibly windy here but no rain thank goodness. In fact the sun is shining, so it's quite a nice day if you don't mind being blown away!:rotfl:
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Welcome to Bebee and also Broomstick who joined us yesterday. :hello:
They are all lovely on here except Aussielass who picks on me mercilessly and Thriftlady who is typoterminator. You need to watch out for her sidecik Penelope PenPusher too.
In light of the mice I am bleaching the laundry room from top to toe and cleaning out the cupboards.
The girls appear to be multitasking in that they have 5 board games and all the associated "hoover food" bits strewn on the living room floor.
I think I may be high on bleach fumes.:o It's either that or the sloe gin I've been quality controlling.
Haribo x0
