The T Mobile guy I spoke to on the phone today told me that if I want to use my laptop with the Web & Walk at all, I must take out a 12-month or 18-month contract.

He said they wouldn't sell me a data card separately to use with the £7.50 a month sim plus the £10 add-on.

He said that although the add-on was called Web & Walk professional, it was only for PDAs and phones with browsers, not for laptop use.

I won't be taking up this offer in case I find that I'm stuck in a 12-month contract but have crappy coverage etc.

I bought some bits separately - a pcmcia non-3g gprs data card and a t-mobile Everyday tariff SIM with £10 on it. Plugged into laptop, it connects and allows a few page loads then always the data flow cuts off. So far, no data usage has appeared on the on-line statement.

Am suspecting that there is some sort of account block in operation (though from what I can glean on the t-mobile site this should work...)

Anyone else been here - advice?
