    iv also noticed that the 150k package is now the same price as the 256 package does this mean a upgrade for us 150k customers too
  • I have just called Tiscali to give notice to cancel my 150k service and then join Wannado. Was offered a "special deal" of 512k unlimited for £17.99 within 3 days. As there is no new contract I have accepted the offer while I condsider my options. Maybe worth a discussion if you are currently with Tiscali?

    Thanks for the tip off. I got the same. ;D It seems they will match whatever deal you're going off for. The guy I spoke to asked why I'm wanting to cancel, how much will i be charged, by the other provider, for what speed? He said: would I be interested if he made me the same offer. Well I accepted. It's a saving of £2.00 on the "new" packages prices, and on a month's contract, as I've completed the 12mth.
    He did say it will take 24-48hrs to take effect.

    Should have known they would make offers to keep their customers, most companies do, I got lots of free and discounted months when I was on anytime dial up, with 2 different providers.

    Interesting to note I had a CD in the post from Wanado for 1mb Broadband at £17.99 a month. My current contract with Tiscali of 512mb expires this month.

    Think I will be phoning them and asking them to match it.

    The guy did ask if it was the 1Meg @ £17.99 offer. I wasn't aware of the details of this. My 12 mth contract actually runs out on the 26/02/04, but when I phoned yesterday, they said I could give notice now.

    I've just been reading the tiscali forums and apparently the following applies:

    Tiscali is pleased to announce that we will be upgrading our Broadband customers' speeds completely free of charge.

    Upgrades will be staggered over the next couple of months to ensure we have plenty of capacity in place to support this boost to customer speeds:

    150k customers will be upgraded to 256k by the end of January 2005

    256k customers will be upgraded to 512k by the end of March 2005

    512k customers will be upgraded to 1mb by the end of March 2005*

    Customers don't need to do anything, we will upgrade the service automatically and confirm by email when the speed increase has taken place.

    In a small number of cases, 512k customers will be unable to get a 1mb service due to technical constraints such as line loss due to distance from the local exchange.

    Tiscali.

    So do we just sit tight?

    Someone at work told me of a friend of theirs who had free calls and broadband internet access for £20 per month with homecall. https://www.homecall.com I think it was?

    hi all
    im with tiscali too and thier tech suppor is appaling, the only reason im withthem is i dont want to goto the hassle of changing providers does anybody know if we upgrade are we given another 12 mth contract??

    I was due to tell Tiscali where to stick their service about 2 months ago,when 512 was £24.99.The guy on the other end of the phone dropped my price to £19.99,which was what new customers were paying.I asked if this was a new contract,and was told that I could still cancel after 30 days notice,which gave me the option if I didn't like it.

    My neighbour,who was on 256 with Tiscali at £19.99,tried to get his price reduced accordingly,and they wouldn't budge,but also didn't believe him that I was only paying £19.99 for 512.I spoke to the customer service on his phone and told them about the deal,and the fact I could still give 30 days and walk,to which the very snotty manager told me I had agreed a new 12 month contract,not a rolling one.

    I e.mailed them about 10 days ago,severely complaining,but still haven't heard anything.

    So beware if you want to let your contract roll with a new tariff.Tiscali,it appears,rip you off.

    Has your upgrade happened yet. I was told it would take 24 to 48 hrs, and I've been checking my speed constanly since it should have been effective, and I'm still on 150k or less. My account states that 512k is active!!? I phoned up and spend ages on their technical support, which was appalliing. Nothing resolved, all I gained was a big phone bill no doubt. It appears the call centre is in India, the woman i spoke to was speaking soooooo sssllooww, adding to the length of the call. She supposedly ran some tests, after the tests she made me ran resulted in nothing. She said she's emailing me some detail of some other tests to do. I'm soo cross thsi morning, If it's not resolved I'm leaving tiscali for good!!
