  • Oh and thanks to everyone else too, this may be the best Christmas stocking EVER!
  • i have decided to take the home made approach to christmas making hampers - although these arent free this is my main idea

re-use an old wine bottle (i bought new half size ones from a brewing shop) - buy some vodka and his favourite sweets, put the sweets in the wine bottle and fill up with vodka - then using the idea of favours for a wedding we bought some red netting material with silver glittery spots and wrapped up the same sweets that are in the bottle. so for example you pick rhubard and custard sweets, he has a little pack of them to go with his rhubard and custard flavour vodka.

For our friends we are also adding their other gifts to it to make a hamper but if you put ribbon on them, they'll look good on their own

    so far, we have made

    rhubard and custard
    chocolate lime
    pear drop
    skittles
    fruit salad
    black jack
    lemon sherbert
    strawberry
    cola cubes

we of course have sampled them and it really does work =)

I have in the past sent off SAE to the eastenders cast and all sent back signed personalised photos - worth doing especially if the person is a fan of a certain someone.
I also sent SAE`s to my hubbys football club after emailing them and they gave an address so hopefully will get something back from there too.

I love the free stocking idea, it is hard work putting it together but more thought goes into it i think :)

Another thing i saw while browsing was empty jam jars decorated up and inside filled with favourite sweets or chocolates x

Can I ask; if you don't mind; how exaclt do you do this? I understand the bit about the vodka and putting the sweets in but how long do you leave it for? sounds like a marvellous idea but I don't want to poison anyone :D

    DONT DO IT, lol.
This stuff is deadly, my friend gave me this as a gift before, vodka with strawberry millions sweets and another with mint aero.
We drank both litre bottles between us (no-one else would drink it), I cant remember anything about that night & I couldn't stop being sick the whole next day. :rotfl:

we did this with skittles, came out really well, you need to only use one colour of skittles at a time. served with lemonade

you just put a pack of sweets in the bottom and top up with vodka and put lid on. it really is that simple. it doesnt look like anything is happening but overnight most of it dissolves.
It can be lethal if too much consumed in one night neat, thats why i recommend lemonade - drink responsibly folks :rotfl:
  • im so tempted to have a go at this vodka idea
